Looks like you should have paid attention to your teachers.

Oh look. Another bitch and complain about teachers bitching and complaining thread.
You guys must picture every teacher in the country working in a district like Highland Park. The rural reality of being a teacher is quite another story, Kids.
I get alot of teachers plight, though it's not unique to their profession as they would have you wish. However, there are a lot of goobers out there that claim they work 500 days a year like the moron in this article that ruins it for the rest of teachers

All I did was quote an article. You seem like you are still upset because you said something stupid and got called out for it.

Why does this place hate teachers so much?

The national data clearly debunks the notion that they are underpaid.
I would like to see that study focused on major metropolitan areas. Teachers in big cities are woefully underpaid vs. white collar workers in big cities. In rural areas, that $35k goes a lot further.

I immediately stop listening to fricking teachers when they start this stupid shite.

Let's say this guy makes 30k per year.
The guy has been a teacher in Saginaw for nearly 40 years. He is at the top of their salary scale, which is almost $80k

Median household income for DFW area is about 53k. Teachers make around 50k

Which makes his claim even worse. I was trying to give him the most benefit of the doubt I could

Median household income for college educated white collar workers is much higher than 53k.

I’m in my 6th year teaching and for the most part, I love it. I never bring work home with me. Granted, I use my off period every day to grade papers and prepare the next days lesson instead of walking around and bullshitting with other teachers.
I also get to school about an hour before my first class, but that’s mostly so I avoid the morning rush hour traffic and I’m not a morning person so getting to my classroom early helps me wake up more so I’m not cranky to my first class lol. I use this time to make copies usually. A typical day for me is leave home around 6am and get back home around 3-3:30pm. I also have between a 90 minute and two hour break each day because of how I set up my schedule every year.
So yeah, you won’t hear me complain and I’m happy to deal with my salary considering my schedule and all the time off I have.

College educated white collar workers work more hours than teachers. I get they work after school, but so do most white collar workers so let's call that a wash or slightly towards teachers. Teachers get 2 weeks off for Christmas, a week for Thanksgiving, Spring Break, MLK day, and summer.

Because there is a teacher in that article claiming he worked 500 days of hours in a 365 day year. Unless he didn't sleep, eat, or shite and still somehow found 135 days he's full of shite.
No there isn’t. There’s a stupid arse OP that guessed at a salary and made up a bunch of shite off of it, and your dumb arse eating it up.

The teacher bashing on here is so tired.
Posters who think it’s an easy job simply have no clue. Same posters who probably think there aren’t enough good teachers. I imagine lots of very smart people who would consider teaching don’t do so because of the pay.

1. It was my OP
2. The lower the salary the less outlandish his claim at 2.68 an hour he would have to work 12000 hours to make 30k, as that number goes up so does the hours worked. There are only 8,760 hours in a year. At 2.68 an hour working 24 hours a day for a year that would be $23,376. Now for arguement sake, let's say his total tax rate was 20% including retirement (that's too high) that means pre tax his pay would be a little over $28k. The numbers don't add up, he's 100% full of shite
