Phones just blew up around here, not for a severe weather event, but for a child abduction alert.

Holy shite the wind this morning is intense. Yesterday was bad but this is worse. Plus it's bulk trash day, shite will be everywhere.

Had the alarm set for 5:30 and the amber alert went off at 5:15. I really needed that other 15. Lol

yeah that amber alert pissed me off - was having best night sleep in weeks, and then up from there.
he is to hopefully a pretty quiet day and this crap underperforms.

I swear, next winter I am going to buy about 1,000 hose bib covers and sell them on the corner. Someone stole two off my house last night. Going around to find a replacement is a big lol.

What a frikkin joke. Stores closed, schools closed, government offices closed. Front stalls 75 miles away ...

Four day weekend for the Union folks ....

I always wrap mine with a large sock or an old dish towel. Then I go over that with a Walmart bag to keep the rain off the towel. Finally I take a 5 inch planting container and cover the hose bibb. Laugh if you want, but I’ve never had problems.

My son's class is driving up to Shreveport tomorrow morning at 9:00 from Lafayette. Should I be worried about ice? My daughter is leaving for Houston at 3:30 in the morning. Any concerns there?

I’d have zero concerns

Air is stable over the northern half of Alabama. My temp just north of Birmingham is 56 with a dew point of 49. That won’t support severe storms. Gradient winds will be the main issue.

Birmingham OTM schools love shutting down for absolutely nothing. A stiff dew will cause them to delay openings. It’s gotten pretty insane.

well in fairness - the forecast was the potential for some bad shite that just didn't come together.

Schools do not want to take the chance anymore - after the blizzard a few years ago and kids and teaches got snowed in and stuck in the schools for a couple days before they could get out, they just do not want to chance it - and I do not blame them.

Same here in West Central GA. It's 48 here now and the dew point is 39. Definitely not a contributer to severe storms.
