Before you say LOL I don't stay home all day, you're breaking the actual rule of working from home, so you don't count.
I don't have any rules when I work from home, other than getting my work done and being available by phone and/or email. I don't even have to put in 8 hours if my workload doesn't necessitate it. I stare at a computer much more at the office than I do when I'm working from home.

I was lobbying my company to let us go back into the office I got so sick of being home all the time. A DC shop ended up giving me a nice offer but it's 100% remote for the time being. It sucks but worth the extra money. No way in hell I turn down $30K extra for this lifestyle.

A lot of you are mentioning work from home but I think you all are looking at it the wrong way. It's remote work/work from anywhere.
If I could get a remote work job I would buy an RV and I would work from a different place every few weeks. The overall freedom (even though I would still have to work during the day) would just be incredible.
Even if it was just work from home being an introvert I would absolutely love it. The less people I'm around the better.
I will say this though, if my company is saving millions on commercial real estate costs, I feel like they should pay for the internet bill. I think it's BS that people have had to upgrade and then pay their own internet bill to work at home, especially when they didn't have the option to work in an office.
But to answer the question I would absolutely take work at home/remote work/work from anywhere over the $30k anytime.

The vast majority of people don't walk into the office and have a task they're working on from 8:00 through 5:00 every single day. It ebbs and flows as tasks come up and requests are made by clients. With WFH, this means the time between those tasks can be used for a small chore or errand instead of staring at Tigerdroppings at a desk.

Unless you people are complete introverts, I cannot fathom wanting to be home all damn day for work.
I've worked from home for 9 of the last 11 years. We have a lot of friends and a very active social life. When we lived in New Orleans we were doing happy hour multiple times per week. Now that we're in Lafayette, we would still grab dinner a couple times during the week (that obviously changed a bit with COVID and our newborn). I do get stir crazy at times, but when I do I just leave the house and grab lunch with friends. After work we walk around the neighborhood, or I'll go shopping (I do most of the shopping because it gives me a reason to get out of the house), or I'll go to the gym. We're pretty much never home alone on weekends, people are either here, or we're at someone else's house.
Anyway, I don't think I would take 30k to go back into an office. That's around the number where I would consider it, but I don't think I would budge until the number was closer to 50k.
ETA: at my last office job I was willing to take a 15k pay cut to work from home. I ended up with another remote job and actually got a raise out of it, but I just can't operate long term in an office setting anymore. It drives me insane.

At the office you don't get interrupted constantly by non-business matters.

Know I'm not in the majority, but I would take the work from home. I hate people, especially most of the back stabbing cock suckers I work with.

Agree, I got more done in a shorter time than I do in the office. People have a way of preventing you from getting work done with bullshite that doesn't matter when you're there.

I don’t think I would want that permanently. It was nice at first but I don’t want to be in my house all day all night every day.

Yep, I absolutely do not miss the office drama, especially with the political BS. If I had been in an office last year the office drama surrounding the 2020 Election would've been insane.
Sorry but as I've gotten older I've realized I only want family and a few close friends in my life. The rest I would love to interact with as little as possible. Call me a crazy introvert but it's a less stressful more enjoyable life.

About the same here. I've only been back in the office maybe 8-10 days since last March, and none of them have been a full day. Just had to go in for one reason or another.
My mornings used to consist of getting up, getting the kids and myself ready, and trying to get out the door to pick up school carpool riders, drop them off, and fight traffic headed downtown. Schools won't let us drop off before 7:20 or so, and it didn't really matter which of the two schools I was taking, it was always a good 35-40 minutes to get to work, park in a deck, walk a couple of blocks, deal with crowded elevator lobby, and finally get to my desk at 8:15-8:30 every day. Now I drop the kids off at 7:30, I'm back home by 7:35, and get an earlier start to work. My wife has been back in the office a couple half days a week, and the times that there are no kids or wife home, I can really focus and work. Going back to a crowded office with tons of background noise, combined with all that rush hour traffic, no thanks.
Of course all that may change in 2 weeks when school is out and I have 3 kids at home all day.

I'd go back to the office for a raise.

We usually extend the trip for a couple days, and it's a nice get away. We've taken cheap long weekend trips to Chicago, Minneapolis, New York, and Nashville.

This is highly dependent on your current salary. Someone making $30k, no brainer to take the other $30k. You make $60k, something to think about. $100k + I am working from home.

LIke you said, no chance I'd do it for $10k, and also at $20k.
Make it $30k, and you have my attention. Not 100%, but I'd probably take the $30k and head back into the office.
The commute to/from work alone gives me 1.5 hours of my day back. Every single day, it's hard to put a price tag on that, but there IS a price to put on that and $30k sounds about right.

For me it would also depend on the commute time. If I could get my old job back with a $30k raise I absolutely would go back to the office (just do my best to ignore the office drama) since I only lived 5 miles from my old job. But if it's a job with a 45 minute minute commute both ways (so as you mention 1.5 hours/day) then no the $30k wouldn't be worth. $40k I would have to really think about it. $50k I'm definitely sucking it up and doing it.
