First, i am not atheist. I do believe in a higher power, but not so much in the traditional way. There are many religions, each one believes their religion is the "right one".
----

If anyone closely followed what is in the Bible, whether you believe in God or not, the world would be a better place.

There's nothing that it doesn't cover if you actually read from page to page.

Anyway, there have been many church scandals that have happened since the beginning of religions. How can you say that religion is the answer? There are good people who don't really identify with a religion who live "cleaner" than a lot of people who claims to be a strong "god fearing" person.

Because the Good Book says so. And stop asking those kinds of questions. You must be a troublemaker.

Cell phones and internet have made it easier to connect with people outside your circle.

Women don't put up with as much shite as they used to and a lot more of them aren't staying at home all day long. I would guess the number of women stepping out has increased.

But hearing about it more is because news travels fast and like others have said, they leave a digital trail.

That's where people are bitter towards it. Plenty of people preaching and shoving it in your face, but they themselves don't hold true to what they preach.

Hopefully that's not all you're doing, because putting premium in your civic isn't going to make her want to test drive a Ferrari any less.

Well, that's a debate tactic I have not run into in a while.

Seems pretty foolproof...guess we're done here. Well played, sir.

Monogamy is not normal. It's a religiously enforced and state sanctioned institution that does not work anymore. It had it's time and place but people have evolved past that now. If it was an institution that went with the grain of human nature, it would be more successful. That is the bottom line. It works for a small subset of the population but does not work for the majority of humans and never will.

There are many fakes and hypocrites in a church. But how or why should that give anyone an excuse to disbelieve or do as they please is nonsense.
I do my own reading. Mixed in with church at times. I'll be accountable for whatever I do. And won't blame it on someone else.

This is true. Man can never live up to that standard. Thus, Jesus.

Cool! Let's all attack the guy who brought religious beliefs into the discussion. So edgy...

No...he should be attacked for suggesting ONLY religion produces non assholes who don't cheat.

That is clearly false, and tends to show far more about the mind of the religious than it does the nonreligious.

This whole notion that without religion, why not just murder, or rape or steal?!?!?! Seems like some hard core projection if you ask me...

You are assuming everyone will interpret it the same. Do you think Adam and Eve populated the world? If so, that means, that had kids who then had relations with each other in order to have more kids... so on and so forth. Does that mean everyone should start reproducing with their siblings?

See how I can interpret that situation? God was able to make a woman right? But needed to borrow a rib from her to make a man? That don't make no damn since. If he was able to create the world, but needed to borrow a rib from the woman he created?

Polygamy is not the baseline.....God or not.

I couldn't disagree more. Polygamy is what we are wired for. Monogamy is something that relatively moral society created in order to maintain a family unit more dedicated to child rearing.

Monotheistic religions are nothing more than socially sanctioned cults. If they were started from scratch today, people would ignore them. So they are all fake and hypocritical. If you had been born in Saudi Arabia you would be a Muslim today instead of a Christian. Your religion is an accident of geography and nothing more.
