2020 hurricane season predicted to be 'above-normal' with 3-4 major hurricanes

quote:

Here are the projected numbers:
Tropical storms: 14-18 (normal 12)

Hurricanes: 7-9 (normal 6)

Major hurricanes: 3-4 (normal 2)

This follows one of the busiest hurricane seasons on record. In 2019, the 2019 Atlantic hurricane season was the eighth most-active in named storms based on records going back to 1851. It caused about $13.9 billion in damage across the basin, well below the estimated $50 billion from last year and the $220 billion in 2017.

The number of named storms has been inflated as just about every semi organized storm system is given a name.

Only logical conclusion is the guy who originally translated the Mayan calendar was dyslexic and the world really ends in 2021.

I wouldn't doubt that it'll be above normal. We didn't even have a winter...again.

Worst case scenario is New Orleans continues to be overrun with COVID-19 patients and a Cat 3+ comes barreling in

This isn’t directed at anyone in this thread, at least yet, but I will never understand the people who complain about natural disasters taking place in an area where it’s a expected event relatively often.

It would be like living in Jurassic Park and bitching when the dinosaurs break loose and are hunting you down.

if it’s that big of an issue then move.
