The difference is I didn't borrow the max of what I qualified for, or even half of that.

Even in times of low intrest rates, I like to purchase a home and keep my note the same or less than prior. I put 70% down on this home, which we plan on being our last. I understand the ignorance of not utilizing it in a different manner, but you just never know when things take a turn for the worse and I like the peace of mind that I am paying less than before for my home and security.

People are signing up for mortgages of $400 and even $500K with 7% interest rates and their monthly gross income is maybe $10K at best.
Great.

Setting us up for another mortgage crash. Hello 2009.

Go to Zillow. Search Houston and set the price range to 150K.

I am sure every result you find will be in some ghetto and need some elbow grease, which makes my arguement moot

I’ve been thinking about doing this but am just kind of unsure of how to start. Did you follow any specific plan or anything? I mean I know there’s lots of step by step material out there but just curious.

Honestly, I watched a lot of YT videos and just did a lot of online research. There are people selling courses but they are overpriced considering the internet is free/

There is one course for $6500 and they promise you they will help you find a product to import and brand as yours that will work. We are not importing yet but if we do I am considering hitting them up with their money-back promise.

This guy runs that course

This is precisely what we did. We didn’t start a special education fund for our kids but rather a general investment fund to be used for whatever.

I’m looking at $4,500 a month after taxes when I move to Houston. Increase my mortgage I have in Baton Rouge by around $2000 a month
No state income tax in Texas, but they sure make up for it on property tax

Do you want to own a home at an affordable price?
vote Republican

Do you want inflation to get under control?
vote Republican

Otherwise, keep voting for these ignorant scum of the earth Demon-crats so they can continue to lie and steal everything you own.

My mortgage is 2.6% and I just built a custom home 2.5 years ago. I’m moving to get closer to all my activities I do in Texas and my wife got an offer we couldn’t refuse.

It’s not the salary because it’s only about $4500 more per month. It’s the equity piece of the comp is why we are hauling arse.

I dont think so at all. It is 'there are good times and bad times, if you are responsible, disciplined and a little bit driven you can live a very full and fun life in spite of crappy economic times that will always come and go"

You think my parents, who paid 40k on a home in a modest neighborhood at 12% interest wanted more house....I would imagine. Instead, they lived within their means and have had a nice life in spite of modest incomes.

You just said you bought your current house well into your 30s.

Big arse difference between you and the 22-24 year old who just started working.

They would sell a kidney to be able to buy a house at the price you did 10 years ago.

A modest modular home that's at 1400 square feet, after everything is said and done, is going for 200k now and this is your mindset?

Are you high?

So they want a $360K house that I bought at 33 when they are 24? Got it.

I just found multiple options in Houston for 150K or under. I used Houston because that was the city given.

Too many bars on the windows, overgrown lawns, and holes in the drywall.

Oh there's plenty of stinkers and I'm sure some of them are in terrible areas, but there are plenty that look like they could be nice homes with a little work.
