Montegut woman sentenced to five years for sexual battery

A Montegut woman will spend five years in prison after admitting to inappropriately touching a teenager multiple times.

Mayloris Charpentier, 30, of Roland Henry Street pleaded guilty Thursday to the sexual battery of a 14-year-old girl, according to the Terrebonne District Attorney’s Office. The plea took place before State District Court Judge Juan Pickett.

In early August, Terrebonne sheriff’s detectives learned that a teenage girl had been sexually assaulted by a family friend who was later identified as Charpentier. After the victim told her parents, they banned the 30-year-old woman from coming to the house.

Charpentier was arrested Aug. 20 after she admitted to the sexual contact with the victim during an interview with detectives, police said.

Court records show that the 14-year-old girl had been involved in a consensual relationship with Charpentier.

Charpentier faced up to 10 years on the sexual battery conviction, according to state law.

Due to the sexual nature of the crime, Charpentier will serve her sentence without the benefit of probation or parole, prosecutors said. She is required to register as a sex offender upon her release.
