Yeah not nearly as much going on as there use to be in Monroe and Alexandria. But my 8yr old had never seen any before, so we took him yesterday for his bday. We got there early, lady scanning tickets in was nice enough to give us the last 4 pit passes she had. Concessions were expensive, as expected. Kids had a blast. All that matters.

Did the brand "Monster Jam" ever have motorcycle races and truck pulls? When I went as a kid, it wasn't Monster Jam and 80% of the show was truck pull and mudbog distance runs. There were only two monster trucks at the time and they crushed a few cars. I figured it was called Monster Jam because nobody cared about truck pulls or mudbogs and they wanted all jumping from those trucks. IOW, I wasn't surprised about what we would see.

I didn't go but a few of my FB friends said the same thing.
I went 3 years ago with my son. Sat the first row in the terrace and had a blast. They had Monster Truck Races and Freestyle. They also had demolition derby with cars pulling trailer. A few trucks did backflips.
As far as concessions, the prices suck. I have Saints season tickets. My son is use to going to the dome so he never ask for anything when we get inside. Normally we split a pretzel and a sprite or nachos. I'll bring him where ever he wants to eat after the game.

Brought my son last night and agree it was terrible. We go every year him and I as it's great father/son time.
They should be ashamed of that shite show they put on. Hardly any good trucks and the ones that were there were literally taped together and missing parts before the show started. The freestyle was terrible as they were either incapable of going big or didn't want to. No quad or motorcycle racing in between at all just some shitty trucks.
I really hope they get their shite together because it will be over if they don't. We can find other stuff to do and spend our money on.

When Monster Jam comes to Birmingham, Al., it takes place in such a small arena that's it is basically a drag race between 2 trucks for a distance of about 200 feet at the most.
Now arena cross was decent.

The movie was written off as a loss before it even made it to theaters.

It has sucked for the past few years. Went a few years ago and it sucked. Went last year bc my kid got free tickets and it sucked. He got offered free tickets again this year and was not interested at all.

Monster Jam: for those who enjoy WWE, but wish it was trashier.

my thoughts on monster jam last night with reference to this thread.
1) used to go as a kid and there were all kinds of events (dirt bikes, atv's , pickup trucks, demo derby, robot dragon truck thing, all as previously stated). went last year for the first time in 25 years and it was OK but just monster trucks and 4 wheelers. The show was put on better, there was more going on as opposed to long breaks, big inflatable things the trucks drove through, etc. just felt like they put more effort into it. Last night was just monster trucks and it was pretty blah. we got to our seats at about 7:30 and i guess we missed the "wheelie competition". not sure what that was but oh well. Then there was racing, a long intermission, and free style. agree that the MTs didn't do much. grave digger did a back flip, several others broke pretty easily, the first dude literally just drove over all the hills, no real attempt to jump things. i'd say 3-4 finished their freestyle round, 4-5 flipped, and 4-5 just flat out broke/stopped running. all in all, meh.
2) on the back flip thing, i'm not sure if this affected it but i believe a driver was recently injured pretty bad doing this so the other drivers may have been gun-shy. if so, i agree, why go through the effort to put that obstacle up. (found the article... hell, it was grave digger: https://myfox8.com/2017/01/17/grave-digger-driver-hurt-in-crash-during-show-in-florida/)
3) on concessions, it's a large sporting venue, what did you expect? i ate before i went because i knew it would be expensive. i gut out of there only spending about $30 for food and drinks for my two sons.
4) on demographics, yes there were a lot of red-neck type folk there. plenty. But also plenty of other types of folks. Hell, i'd say 1/3 was city dwelling black folks who would get no mention here. there are also a good bit of regular old middle-class white folks. I'd say the blacks and non-redneck whites are just normal people that have kids that like trucks/watch monster truck videos and/or got free/cheap tickets and wanted to do something for their kids. My kids had fun, no doubt, but that's not an excuse for Monster Jam to put on a shitty show.
All-in-all, Santa will have to think hard about giving tickets to the 2018 Monster Jam show.....
