I don't know much about Ruston...people I know from there love it, so I'm inclined to think it's a great place. But I've lived in both Shreve and funroe
Shreveport>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>monroe
unless you are a really big fan of the scent of sulfur, duck dynasty...and not a damn thing else

The problem with Shreveport is for its size it sucks. There's nothing to do, the restaurants are below average, and there's not much that's unique about it.

It's got half a million people between it and bossier and when I'm there I can't find anything that worth doing other than gambling and Superior is the spot to go eat.

It could have a lot more for the size, but if that's all you found to do then you didn't try very hard.

There's enough bars/restaurants and random festivals and converts that I've never really had a weekend where I didn't feel like there was something to do. That was of course when I lived in biking distance to downtown....now that I have a house off Southern Loop, I'm a lame arse homebody

Yeah man, Shreveport sucks.

Besides the casinos, I'd compare you to Alexandria

Ive been to Funroe a hand full of times. Observations:

1) Everyone seems to know everyone.

2) If they don't know who you are they will ask you who you are and what you are doing, unapologetically so.

3) Apparently Enoch's sells more Guinness than any bar in the country. This absolutely blew my mind.

Yea...just like Alexandria...with breweries, and a downtown, and regular events....and not run by baptists

Live in Swartz and obviously go to Monroe a lot. Never smell it unless I'm on interstate going thru WM.

The smell in Monroe is Mount Monroe on the Interstate at the Millhaven exit. West Monroe will clear up in smell in a few months when the new paper mill opens next to Mt. Monroe, assuming the old one closes.
