If you can look at that photo and not choke up at least just a little there’s something wrong with you.

His big sister was doing the only thing she knew to do to help him get through his ordeal. She was there rubbing his back.

God bless her and her little brother.

Man that is a powerful photo. Really heart wrenching.

Honestly, that photograph should win awards.

The trauma close family goes through when a loved one is suffering a life threatening illness or disease is terrible. The affects can last for years. You can’t really appreciate it until you see it firsthand.

Appreciate it? No one who has had a family member go through this appreciates it.

Maybe understands is a better word?

Let me help you out....

appreciate verb
ap·?pre·?ci·?ate | \ ?-'pre-she-?at , -'pri- also -'pre-se- \
appreciated; appreciating
Definition of appreciate
transitive verb
1a : to grasp the nature, worth, quality, or significance of
appreciate the difference between right and wrong

LINK

To appreciate something means you do more than just understand it. So no, “understands” is not a better word.

shite, I don't even have to look at it and I get choked up. Just the thought of it.

My MIL (although I guess she was never truly that since she passed before my wife and I were married) beat breast cancer and Leukemia before acute myeloid leukemia finally got her. It pained me to watch my wife and her family go through that. I couldn't imagine watching a a family with a child go through that. Gut-wrenching.

Sorry, I guess I've always heard it used that way.

Having beat cancer once before, I’d gladly get it again so none of my children or grandchildren would ever get it...
Godspeed to all the families fighting this!!!

I don't have the guts to read that article, but can somebody tell me how the kid in that picture is doing? Any redemption stories? I know 2 people who's kids beat leukemia. I hope and pray that this child can claim the same one day..
