Modern customer service is trash

I’m trying to deactivate my voicemail bc of the relentless spam voice messages in my inbox. And no one in my contacts ever leave a voice mail. Upon researching the internet, I was told it can be done only through the mobile provider.
I call the phone company. It’s a 15 min wait. I get someone on the line with an Indian accent “Kimmy”. She asks me why in calling and the reason. I tell them. She asks for my 6 digit pin to pull up my acct. I don’t ever recall having one. I tell her I can verify via address, social. Nope, only through the special pin. She tells me I can do it at the local store. I drive to one and walk in. There are 3 employees and no customers. No one knows how to deactivate the voicemail. They can however reset my special pin. So I call the phone company again. 30 min wait this time. A get someone with a Hispanic accent. No mentions of the special pin. He just asks for my name and deactivated the voicemail. I feel like I won the lottery for requesting something so simple.

It’s never occurred to me that deleting your voicemail is even a thing.

Just call your self, leave a bunch of voicemails till it says, “The mailbox is full and can no longer accept new messages, goodbye.”
Done.
Done.

Had a question for a company today (that just happens to have their headquarters in UT). Two options were phone call and Chat. I was at work and didn't want to disturb my neighbors so I opted for chat. Well, it was an AI chatbot. It was awful. After 5-10 mins and I don't know how many, "I know it can be frustrating..." messages I said, "Can you connect me to a real person?" Well, the real person was worse than the chatbot. lol. They didn't like it when I said, "Your Corporate office is only about 15-20 mins from my house, If you can't help me, maybe I'll just drive there and ask them. From the time I've taken online with you, I could have been there already.." After a bit of a pause, I got this reply...
"Unfortunately, our corporate offices are not open to the public...."
Out of frustration, I called the corporate phone number and after about 15 mins are so, the young man on the line (with a pleasant Utah accent) was able to solve my problem. Apparently, I made some good decisions 2.5 years ago when I signed up with them and they were able to parley that into a solution. (Which I wondered why nobody I'd talked to over the past few days had offered the same deal.)

I work for a huge company & I can explain why Customer Service is dead & not coming back.
1. Companies do not want to pay decent money for Customer Service employees in America & have outsourced them to India & the rest of Asia
2. Americans for the most part do not want these jobs & can make the same money living off the government & not have to get screamed at all day by Totalitarian Karens.
3. AI, Chat, & technology are getting used more & more every day. Most people 30 & under are completely terrified by talking to anyone on the phone.

I called Sears Service to see if they could fix my gas grill. The AI kept saying they don’t fix drills. I asked for a human and it responded that no humans are available. I again asked for a human and it gave me a snarky “There are no humans available. If you ask again I will end this call”. WTF

T-Mobile store?
They're in a hot race with Verizon to win the award for the worst customer service.

Customer service in this country died about 25 years ago guys. Sad but true. Half the population is flat out stupid, other half don't care.
