Seems like with the “systematic racism” engrained deep in every corner of the American society, this sort of thing would’ve never been possible.....ohh wait

It’s been a long fight, but we finally did it. I’m glad we can put this whole racism thing behind us now.

People are making fun of this but we literally just lost our right to vote. I dont give two shits about the flag but the people of Ms have voted twice in the last 15 years to keep the flag. Ms is only 59% white. The vote both times passed 2-1. Welcome to the new America were people’s rights mean nothing. frick it I’m kneeling too this football season.

Melodrama much?

First - you voted for the legislators who voted on this themselves...that's the very definition of republicanism.

Second - That 2001 referendum didn’t mean a thing. It was non binding. The Mississippi constitution does not allow the legislature to declare a binding referendum.

Third - the flag was adopted in 1894 without a referendum...you know, by the legislature, this exact same way.

You'll live, snowflake (I think.)

Yeah I don’t really give a crap about keeping the flag or not, but the people should have had the right to vote. Instead we get Mississippi politicians kissing arse for Greg Sankey while everyone else laughs at how backward they are.

They did. They voted for these representatives. They don't have a "right" to an infinite number of non-binding referenda.

When was it denied? You vote for all of your representatives in all levels of government, right?

Well, he makes a good point in that nobody really gives a shite about the will of the people in this, but then that’s with everything they’re doing in this country. The will of the people be damned when there’s an agenda to get accomplished.

Shoulda followed the Louisiana model baw. We don’t change the brand of toilet paper at the state capitol without a constitutional convention.

You can vote on the new design.

Does sound like it. Will you opt out of voting on the new flag since you don't give two shits?

Did Mississippi not have elections for the Representatives who voted for the flag's removal?
