The big chains like Beat Buy don’t even have the accessories for the products they sell.
I've completely stopped going in there. They just want to sell iphones and computers. Every time I ask for something the sales kid says "just order it online". I hope they go out of business.

You've obviously never been in a Radio Shack Store where there was electronic components. You must have only shopped at the stores where they sold toys.
You can't even get the selection of bulbs at Wally World that RS had.

The Radio Shack in Fairhope, Alabama is slammed busy. Fairhope is a big retirement city now, so all these old people are picking back up on their hobbies and Radio Shack has all the parts they need.
Pretty cool to see.

Wildly incorrect statement.
I work in video production and I can’t tell you the number of times the tiny Radio Shack on College saved my neck with a cable or connector. Nothing was “special order”. They had everything you could need relative to audio or video in stock. It was great.
It was a quirky franchise, but great.

I haven't gone there since buying a new washer there several years ago. Not because I have had any problems with the washer, but because of their service. They might as well not have anyone on the floor assisting people. You ask a question and you get "let me go check". I looked it up on my phone while he was going check. He came back with a "I believe so, but I am not 100% sure" type of answer.
I told him I found the information I wanted and that it was. The only reason I was buying it there was because it was on sale.
But I had a friend by a refrigerator there. It went out on him 2 days after the warranty expired. He called BB and they sent out someone. It was going to cost him about $60 less than what he paid for it to repair it. He decided to go ahead and buy a new one from somewhere else.
I have never heard a good thing about their service and to be honest, I am surprised they are still in business.

Multiple times during the year, we need a cable, a connector or adapter for computer, TV or internet. The Shack was a one stop shop that solved the issue 95% of the time. With their closing, stuck with Amazon or other online purchase.
Sounds like you found a great business opportunity, there's a huge void in the electronic components retail market.
Either Amazon or some online site like Mouser where you have to buy 50 of everything.
You'd be the hero of Ham radio operators and high school science students everywhere.
I'd be in for a $1000 when you set up the kickstarter.

Only the batteries, sir? Ok. That’ll be $5. I need your phone number, address, birthday, and blood type. Sorry sir, the system makes me fill it out.
This is what comes to mind when I hear Radio Shack.

You could build a whole stereo system from RS and Allied magazine. (Allied turned into RS)

I miss RS because when i was on the road for work, if I needed a Cable, or a serial to USB adapter - I had ready access to get it.

Its an online store, but I find that newegg is better than Amazon when it comes to electronics.

Luckily, we have several Fry's in the DFW area.

That DirecTV deal the Shack ran was a great way to get football cards. Dave was king back then

Knoxville has Shields Electronics on Middlebrook opposite the Tank Farm. And a lot more stuff. My husband also praises the knowledge of the folks who work there.

I worked at radio shack when I was younger. I loved that place. I learned so much cool shite from older guys coming to get random parts for some project they were working on. We would shoot the shite for like 30 minutes talking.

New Orleans doesn’t have Prime Now? Even with normal Prime it’s 2 day delivery.

Wal-Mart and/or local PC repair shop

Small fuses that I would've had to order because no one stocked them, RS would have them.
Posted on 3/4/20 at 10:03 am to tigernnola
RS saved my grandpa from trashing his TV and buying another one.
Working on the motherboard, and I ohm’d a fuse and resistor that was bad.
$3 for a new fuse and resistor from the RS parts cabinet.
Coulda cost him $1,000 + for another TV.

I started buying parts from Allied and Radio Shack when I was 11 or 12 for different projects. Better than a candy store to me.
Later on I was buying IC's to repair an industrial control system. Told the plant manager and he asked "Are you crazy?" I said, "Maybe, but the motherfricker runs."
