re: Missing LSU freshman - UPDATE: body found in river confirmed to be LSU student

A body in the river for more than a day is going to become very hard to recognize. Water logged, it will essentially fall apart when grabbed. Flesh would be very gray regardless of race and things in the river will have eaten on it a bit. Not to mention the debris that has come in contact with it. I’ve heard from people who have pulled bodies from the river in the past that it’s an extremely gruesome scene.

Abort in the river
Bad typo after the last page of this thread

Shouldn't it have been pretty easy to distinguish if this was her body or not?
I may be an idiot and I have never seen a body in water for a week, but shouldn't it still have some resemblance to her?
they're going to keep things very vague until they full on confirm the identity of the deceased and then make the death notification to the family

they might have to wait for dental records to come back

That's some serious dedication to abort a child
So many "what ifs?" still
Maybe she jumped
Maybe she was thrown off by the love interest
Maybe she was thrown off by a car jacker/robber/rapist and they just left the car?

Correct. Had a buddy in high school who worked with the Coast Guard in Lake Pontchartrain. They removed several bodies from the water. One I remember him telling about was what looked like a 50 something year old black male, ended up being a white teen male. This was only after a couple of days.

That was more or so what I was thinking. This makes the most sense.

I heard she jumped upon finding out she was pregnant.
Please don’t spread rumors you hear on the street.

Could also be my friend, Gunner Palmer, or his friend Zeb Hughes, the two guys who disappeared scouting for ducks in November
I remember that story, sorry for your loss. those two young men are long gone, no way they get found

Has anyone heard if the body is male or female?

Has this ever happened? Most car jackers look for dead-ends, industrial areas, bayous, swamps to get rid of the victim/driver.
But. This will likely be the narrative of some idiots on the Facebook posts from Local News. And somehow LSU and BRPD will be responsible.

They're not releasing any details at all other than a body has been found and it appears it's been in the water for a while.

I’ll stick to my office job, thanks.

Yeah, I got short with my post earlier because my lunch had just arrived. But I was half arse figuring it in my head and realized that obvious other forces needed to be taken into account because the math figured way too far.
I wasn't questioning the math... just the final answer. Apparently may be more accurate than I thought. I'm out of state, but Jacksonville has the st johns river... and we find bodies much closer to the last known location. Learnt something new today about y'alls area and waterways.

Yeah, the Mississippi this far south is pretty swift. I googled the speed and found it to be approximately 6 feet per second. But my calculations would have to have occurred in a vacuum, which obviously wasn't the case here.

the mighty Mississipp is at or roughly near its spring crest from the upriver snowmelt
so it's probably running pretty fast at the moment... meaning anything that gets caught in it will likely be booking it down river
