When someone goes in near Baton Rouge, by the time the body surfaces it is usually near Donaldsonville due to the bends and current in the river.

You usually don’t. People jump from the Sunshine Bridge all the time, too. 7/10 times you hear of the sunshine bridge being closed, it’s because of a jumper, sadly but you don’t hear about that part in the news. Suicides aren’t usually news worthy.

Curve in the river the water temp causes them to bloat and pop up around Duncan Point. It happens all the time, you just don’t hear about it because no one cares. That’s where all the boats are looking now.

The I-310 Hale Boggs Bridge aka Luling Bridge is a popular spot for Nola Area folks to jump. Happens at least 3 times a year. Rarely reported unless it's like that guy missing after a concert in Nola or the mental patient walking along the 310 in his hospital gown. Tragic shite. But The news does not usually cover suicides for a reason.

That depends on how you define news. Does news exist to make citizens more aware or does it exist to sell newspapers and advertising? "All the news that's fit to print." maybe should read "all the news that will sell copies and boost our advertising dollars without alienating our 'readers'."
It used to be that when a suicide happened and got publicized, it would be followed by friends, acquaintances, and even total strangers deciding to also be suicides. Some would leave notes saying they were following the suicides lead.
So, if they don't hear or read about it, maybe they don't do it.

I keep checking back to this thread hoping to here something good but I guess it’s not likely at this point. I deleted Facebook and this is really the only place for me to hear any news about this situation. Sad sad indeed.

Apparently her bf has not been to any of the searches or the prayer circle and isn't helping the investigation. Not saying he's guilty of something, but he sure ain't helping his case

What a sad story. Couldn’t imagine being the parent here. I sure wish people would raise hell in these types of scenarios when leadership fails instead of all the other bullshite they seem to manufacture.
