I was physically ill when I read a couple first person accounts on the soldiers feeding the survivors of German death camps.

I don’t know what is more shocking:

1. Her lasting alone for 3 weeks
2. Her name being Tiffany
3. How deep her tan got in 3 weeks.

Do you think the owner of the remote hikers cabin carries a lot of steaks or hamburgers with him when he travels back to it to re-open it for the summer?

Hell, for all we know it was just his own lunch. Or at least a packed snack.

Was there food in the cabin?

From what I heard her say yesterday, she had 3 cookies and some elderberry jam that she was saving for her upcoming birthday.

I know from watching the Outdoor Boys channel that a lot of these mountain cabins are left unlocked just for these situations. It would make sense if water and a few non perishables would also be left in the cabin. Bottle water and canned goods would easily last all winter.

So if you are going to leave your cabin unlocked for stranded hikers I would guess food and water would also be left behind.

Also, did it mention how long she was in the cabin?

mean, she was in a cabin for at least a portion of this so it’s not like she’s sleeping under the stars.

Yeah, not your typical situation. She was fortunate those cabins were accessible.

Would you have been looking for your daughter or shopping back home where you live? I’d had everybody I know and every helicopter I could rent out there looking. “Nah we good, we just needed some eggs and bacon from the stor” lol

Everything about her story sounds contrived and suspect. Survival 101 is SOS signals for rescuers. After three weeks you’d think she’d plaster the area, or at least have a signal fire running 24-7. At best it’s the story of someone that did not want to be found, not someone that was lost seeking rescue.

It’s also fascinating that no sooner did they announce they were winding down search and rescue efforts and she seemingly awakes from hibernation.

Didn’t fit most peoples profiles. Glad she’s been found!

It’s really heartwarming seeing the community come together for $25k on gofundme.

You have it be an idiot to get lost for 3 weeks after you go on a hike in the mountains, especially in the spring when all the rivers and streams are running. Follow the water. You won’t have to go that far before you eventually come across some type of civilization, on top of the fact that you have drinking water to keep you going.

This story grows increasingly comical. It’s almost surprising how many outlets are running with it.

Newsweek: she “had just completed a contract as a traveling dialysis technician…Slaton was planning to start medical school after the trip”

Looks like others have updated the story to state she is not starting medical school…she “aspires” to attend medical school.

Its the media tripping over itself to praise a black woman. She could be doing anything. She could be amazing or a criminal or anything, it doesn't matter to the media, shes a woman of color and thats the most important aspect.

She then proceeded to hike another 20 miles to safety. Fortunately after running out of food on day five, she managed to survive by scavenging leaks.

It’s almost like the OT was tasked with a creative writing exercise about a black female hiker.

If she found the cabin, shouldn't she have just followed the road away from the cabin?
