19 below at the moment. Predicted 30 below by 6 AM. The good news is that by noon, we could be up to almost zero. Thermometer was at 26 below at 4 AM today. No idea what the windchill was, but I could hear it blowing against my house.

2 high school kids home all week, bored out of their heads. Looks like Friday might be a go.

I'm calling the furnace guys this week for a checkup/service, getting a remote starter for two of our cars, taking the snowblower in for a tuneup and getting new gloves.

This all sounds like stuff you should've done in the early Fall.

An almost 90 degree difference in wind chill in about a four day period.

Yes, the cars all started. Even the 06 Corolla with 160k on it.

This never happened growing up in Chicago in the 70s.

True! Kids in college and high school, work 60 hours a week. Spouse works 30 miles out of town, and shite gets done on an irregular basis!

Was so cold last night leaving work (was about -25F at that point). Got a headache, fingers were physically hurting, and the inside of your nose freezes. Happy I got to fly to Denver today. Over 60* warmer here

Is this a shot fired at that guy from cypress TX that thought it was up state New York type weather in the 70s?

how did you end up in Minnesota?

Heard it's awesome in summer at least.

Do you garage your cars? How do you keep the engine from freezing solid? Do they still use engine warmers like we used to in Colorado years ago or are these built into the engine now?

I was there in early September for a 49ers game, and it was beautiful. Great city, just get out before the chill, I guess.

Have fun with that. High of 74 here and everyone will be partying on the greens at the Phoenix Open this weekend.

Friend of mine now lives in Minnesota (her home state). She made a wise choice to visit friends in Scottsdale this week

Seriously though....hope you guys stay safe and warm

No. They will not be partying "on the greens."

I have never been to the Phoenix Open but I have been to many other high profile golf tournaments.
Perhaps the Phoenix Open is unique and allows the masses of onlookers in the gallery unfettered access to the putting surfaces?

Maybe they even allow corporate sponsors to set up their hospitality tents on the aprons, but I doubt it!

These are things you do in the summer/fall.
