I like the new one much better. I hate Louisiana's flag with a pelican and 3 babies drinking blood drops. Flags with no cartoon drawings like Texas are the best.

It's not a great, but I like how it's pissing off a lot of vexillology nerds too obsessed with flag designs. Like I get wanting to create good flags that represent their place well and are ascetically pleasing to the eye, but calm down.

The flag looks like the flag of Jubaland, the southernmost region of Somalia. I believe Ilhan Omar is from there. I doubt this is a coincidence.

One of the finalist had a striking resemblance to the flag of Jubaland. But saying the official new flag looks like it is a stretch.

I think they screwed up by not making the dark blue the relative outline of Minnesota. It’s close to the shape they currently have.

My sister in law works for the state gov in MN and she said the reason they changed it is because the people working in the fields on the old flag are Native Americans....lol.

Don’t like the new flag, but generally speaking, I think a flag should be simple enough that school children could draw a decent approximation of it. Their original flag, Louisiana's current flag, etc, are too busy for their own good.

Could have done better with the new one, though.

A hood flag should be simple and easily identifiable. And not clash.

Red or Blue works right?

I was not aware that Somalia was part of the confederacy but they are definitely flying the old Bonnie blue. Someone should probably tell them “that’s raciss”

Why even bother? Just don't have any flag. That's the goal of the outrage anyways.

I saw this thread and thought it was a joke. But nope. It’s real. The old flag was deemed “problematic” by leftists so of course it had to go.

Flag of Somalia:

The "Bonnie Blue flag" was a banner associated at various times with the Republic of Texas, the short-lived Republic of West Florida, and the Confederate States of America at the start of the American Civil War in 1861. It consists of a single, five-pointed white star on a blue field. Its first use being as early as 1810, it is considered the first lone star flag in U.S. history.[1]
