Minnesota Freedom Fund takes in 35 million, has only spent 200k on bailing out protestors

My very first thought when I kept seeing the call to give money to the same places over and over is that these organizations are probably used to dealing with a few thousand dollars a year...how would they ever deal with amounts of this magnitude? People didn’t stop to think about where they were giving their money...there were tons of calls here to give to businesses that had their windows smashed out...after covering a deductible isn’t that what insurance is for? I actually support the movement but just wish people would take a deep breath and make rational decisions when it comes to things like this instead of feeling like they did their part by throwing money at the same four places that were listed over and over.

I mean, how much is bail for a person who was arrested during the protests? It probably wasn't a very high amount.
Seemed silly that the Fund would really need $35 million. There weren't nearly that many arrests that would necessitate that level of funding.
Meanwhile, that money could have been donated to organizations that would actually invest in the community.
