I tend to always give grieving families a pass as they will say shite that just isn't so...and this is just another case of that.

Dude had a gun, dude was accused of shooting said gun which prompted the call, dude ran from the cops. Dude shot his gun at the cops. He was basically the exact opposite of not a threat.

Yes, but it discharged when he picked it up

Family wants to get paid and they are going to say whatever they think will get the public on their side and help them get paid.

I'd feel sorry for their loss, but they lost a thug POS.

The video just makes it clear the cops could’ve shot him in the leg and then tasered him. Murderers.

If someone cannot watch both of those videos and determine that the cops were justified, there is no hope. This is about as clear cut as it gets.

From the comments:

He was running because the guy who murdered him was chasing him. He was sitting on the curb before the cops showed up, guns drawn and ran him down like an animal. Other than that you raise some good points.?

Keep reading. I changed my thoughts on this because I hadn't seen the slow-mo video in the OP, only the real time one. After I saw the slow-mo video, it was pretty clear.

I'm still not convinced he drew the gun like they are trying to show.

Did you see the little red circles in the video?

Why anger the public and prompt demonstrations and possibly more violence?

I haven't followed this (my first time seeing it actually) but i'm guessing its not moreso for the fact that he had a gun and the cops shot him. But the amount of times he was shot. One or two shots i can see someone going down and in too much pain to even try to retaliate. But 6+...

When you shoot, you shoot to kill. Period. Guns hold more than 3 rounds for a reason. You don't have time to think, "hey, maybe those 2 shots were good enough."

Yep.

There was a video posted here last week or so the guy standing up against that convenience store or whatever it was with a gun in his waistband. The 1 cop ditches his gun when backup arrives and pulls out a taser. He tases the guy right when he goes for his gun. The guy goes down, but then proceeds to start firing shots everywhere with his gun.

If a guy has a gun and you realistically think he's going to use it, tasers shouldn't be an option. And as you said, once he does use it, you're not shooting to wound the guy, you're shooting to kill. What if the cop only shoots 2 shots, guy falls down, then simply points his gun at the cop and fires? No need to take that risk at that point.

Maybe that's your thought process and mentality for something like this or everything. If you're going into a situation that you may already know can escalate out of control, you can prepare yourself mentally. Not saying every single time its going to be like that, but still.

Not to mention, guys already on the ground. "Let me just pop 2 or 3 more in him just in case". There is a difference between necessary and excessive.

Absolutely nothing in that video was excessive. Play stupid games; win stupid prizes. In a situation like this, you shoot until the threat is neutralized; not until you FEEL it is enough.
