Disappointing that he got any time at all.
How in the world is this disappointing? His life was in no danger, the suspect was fleeing in a car when he shot at him.
I find it disappointing as well. I understand the law but frick thieves. Kind of glad karma got his thieving arse.

I'm not even totally sure killing is a just punishment for burglary.
I understand when someone is in your home you have no way of knowing what they are going to do. So shooting them is an understandable reaction. I'm somewhat torn on this subject.
Ultimately if you don't break in or attempt to break in you won't get shot.
Do we even know that's why these guys were at the house? Maybe they wanted to play a little ding dong ditch.
ETA: nevermind they admitted they went there to rob the place.

He shouldn't have got any time. It is easy to sit here and judge but if you are in that situation i doubt you are thinking a 100% strait. They may have been fleeing but he could have thought they were coming at him. It's easy to get confused in a high stress situation that you are not trained for. Bottom line kid was attempting to rob the homeowner jail time is not warranted

Yes, the other kids did admit to being there to break in and rob the house, but they never actually got in.

One of them admitted they were there to rob the house.

No one should enter another persons home uninvited. If a unknown person is caught in my home they die. It's very simple to avoid it. Stay out of other peoples shite.

Yes it is.

Doesn't matter. You trespass onto private property, you get shot.
The guy in this situation shot at a fleaing car, so he deserves the jail time. That was a bad decision.
The dead man rides with a gang of shitty people and burgles houses. He finally messed with the wrong house and caught a bullet. No sympathy or feelings for him.

If it is, then why isn't that the punishment for trespassing and burglary?
Most people here have probably trespassed before. Possibly even unintentionally.
ETA: I'm not sympathizing with the criminal, I would probably shoot too, you don't know why someone is in your house, so you expect the worst. I get that.

He never entered the mans home, and he shot him while he was driving away from his property.
I don't think anyone would argue that if someone is actually in your home, blow them the frick away.

In this case, it was.

Sure. If you do it intentionally multiple times your odds of running into the wrong person greatly increase.

Too bad he lived in a cuck state like Minn. He'd be free in Texas.

Wish he had killed all the pos in the car

For clarification, the other suspects admitted that they were at his house to burglarize it.

Good one of them is dead, then. He won't be violating anybody else's sense of safety or stealing things that other people traded days and weeks of their lives to earn. Too bad the others survived.
frick a thief. I have zero sympathy for the dead guy and only about 10% more for his mom. The chances of coming down with lead poisoning drop dramatically when people are raised to not be shitbags.

Surprised at this in the land of Al Franken

I'm fine with the 90 days. I'd be ok with no jail time too.
Although shooting at a fleeing car is definitely not self defense, I have zero sympathy for the kid that died. The world is probably a slightly better place now that one more scum bag is gone.
