We banned them because my daughter started talking about travelling to England to meet Stampy. It was an easy out.

my annoyance with YouTube is what my 2 year old daughter stumbled upon. There are channels out there where the parents set up things to just let their children fight with each other. Screaming, throwing things, etc. just because. Throwing temper tantrums and all that. The dad even gets on the action sometimes and will act like a baby and fight with these girls. All I hear across the house is piercing screams from these two girls and it drives us crazy. I wish there was a way to ban certain channels from showing up. Mind you, this is in the kid section of YouTube and not just the stand alone YouTube.

I am in the same boat as everyone else. We recently started fall softball and as an icebreaker I go around and ask the girls to tell me their names and what their favorite tv show is. 4 out of my 10 girls said their favorite tv show was "youtube". 
My daughter watches the minecraft videos as well and hardly plays the actual game at all.

At least my kids play the game too. They have a cousin attending Loyola (NOLA). when she comes to visit she will play it with them, although I think it is just an excuse for them to bond from her point of view.

I watch twitch a lot. I have watched minecraft videos to learn how to do things in the game. This is the new form of entertainment instead of TV. They enjoy these streamers/youtubers, I don't understand how they like some of them like pewdiepie. That guy annoys the frick out of me, but we all enjoy certain things others don't...
green screen in a room setup kinda like how the level looked. There is a youtube vid where kids that did it talked about it, they said it was actually really awful to try and do it.

My boys watched them all the time. Couldn't stand it. Got them a wii u with Mario kart and Netflix for when they come in from outside. Problem solved.

My 8 yr old son plays Minecraft quite a bit and watches the youtube guys even more. They all seem to be British as far as I can tell. Stampy Longnose, Dan TDM, etc.
He always has a smile on his face while watching and will chuckle to himself at times. I watched a lot of TV as a kid (prob too much) and this seems to be the new version of TV watching.
I don't get why it's so fascinating either and not sure if it's something that should be limited.

From what I remember, they mostly had people yelling at them what to do. I think they may have had a TV they really couldn't see to try and see what was going on.

My kids are still too young for this to be a problem, but my plan is to keep them too busy for that mess.
Also, kids don't respond well to the unfairness of being told to keep off the internet while their parents binge on Netflix and Facebook (or otherwise waste time), so I'll try to keep my own affairs in order first.
