Maybe back in the day when schools were reasonably affordable. In today's world even in state colleges are about $12,000 tuition+fees for instate schools.

Tell me what job someone can get with only a HS degree can work for 5-6 years that can not only save $48,000 for school but additional funds for living expenses.

To the point where they have to pay people to live there.

Yeah, housing is pretty bad. It's coming down but it definitely is up there. No roads in to town, so everything has to be flown in or barged.

Many places on the road system are fairly inexpensive.

I can do both. I'm not mad at how my life turned out. I chose it and it's worked out well so far. I just think it's being willfully ignorant to tell someone to ignore the problems and just work. I can work my arse off and think the system is flawed at the same time. And thanks to this sweet iPhone with Internet capabilities, I can do them at the same time!

They have to ship EVERYTHING in there. Makes for ridiculous prices.

Oh, and I'm in logistics.

vague as frick but ironic. I'm in insurance. I have a couple of transportation clients. I know that's not purely "logistics" but it's where my knowledge kind of ends on the subject.

I honestly believe the younger generation believes there are problems where past generations wouldn't see it that way.

You know, "first world" problems (in a socio-economic sort of way)

I just want to point out that the board is having an long discussion about hard work during the middle of the work day. Doesn't seem like many of us have our nose to the grindstone at the moment.

We had a 6 page thread during working hours on a Wednesday last week filled with people bragging about working 60 hours a week minimum.

What, you think I'm going to give my company name and work address?

If you're not working outside, you're not working. Poor millenials will overheat if they work outside

I think that's fair. But I think it's all relative. Student loan companies and colleges being in bed together is a problem that I think carries over to all generations when you consider the economic impact. Hell student loan debt surpassed credit card debt recently. That's a problem for everyone.

Student loans are definitely a problem. You can still work your way through school though, my wife just did it.

If I were 21 again, I'd go the blue collar route and work in a mine, or construction. Those can be 6 fig. jobs around here.

Apprentices get paid to learn.

Look at how big the separation is between 28 and me at 32. I didn't get a cell phone until 2nd year of college.

Had a beeper in high school though.
