You can still be struggling even if you have housing a new phone. If you are barely scraping by to make ends meet each month you are struggling.
Each person’s case is unique, but the vast majority of issues which arise within a person’s life are due to their choices.
We all have anecdotal evidence to the contrary, but that is just anecdotal.

The premise of the thread is a negative. Therefore, when the usual posters come in to try and demonize the younger demographic, you have to argue from the negative focus. It's not rocket surgery.
Don't be childish - you set forth a very broad position and are focusing on very small data points to support it. And it's silly to hide behind a defensive posture, considering you're the one attempting to support a sweeping generalization that you asserted.

If you are having trouble making ends meet each month because you have more house than you can afford, more of a car note than you can afford, eat out more than you can afford, spend more money on recreation than you can afford, you are not struggling. You're a victim of your own inability to live within your means, and I have zero sympathy for you.

Ah, the ole Millennial anger arises.
Life is easy. Sorry you're struggling.

For example, Scruffy currently lives in an area that is cheap as frick.
It isn’t even on par with Lafayette, LA, in regards to niceties.
Scruffy and his fiancé decided to continue living here because it is cheap and they can save good money for a move later on.
People have choices that affect their lives.
/anecdotal

I at least provided a data point. You did the same, yet have provided zero data points. Which one is childish again?

People live longer, kids die less - did you miss this?

"Barely scraping by" frequently meant a bad day away from serious illness/injury/death/destitution in prior decades.
That is still true for many people to this day. Link? Or are we yet again, arguing from anecdotes and our reflections of how much tougher it was back in the good old days?

It very rarely means that now.
Perhaps. Need to see some data though. You are making good sounding stories but does the data back you up?

My wife and kid haven't left me because I am too mentally weak to put down the bottle once in a while so I'd say I'm doing alright.

Not to mention the owner rates of TVs, cell phones, and cable/internet amongst our country's poor.

Shitty food is cheaper. Really only enforces the point.

They're not reflections because I didn't live in the good ole days - I'm a millennial.
But I will wager that people die less often today than from housing instability, food insecurity, common illness, etc. than they did in prior decades (speaking broadly, I have no idea if 2010s is worse than 2000s for some metric, etc.).
However, as a millennial I'm going to do what comes naturally and admit that I'm not going to do the research to support those positions, so if that's your attack - I'll live with it.

Oh, I don't know, I'd think extreme reductions in the chances that your infant dies before reaching age 5 makes life a bit easier on us
But maybe it's no big deal

Look dude for the millionth time, no millennials are arguing that people do not have some responsibility for the situations people find themselves in.
We are simply pointing out the structural problems such as rising college costs, medical costs, and housing costs partnered with generally stagnant wages that have created a shitstorm for a large portion of our generation.
I am a millennial myself and I have done very well for myself but I am aware enough to acknowledge there are real structural problems that have real world effects on us all.
Holy frick you old heads are dense.

There's a reason why I stopped eating shitty food in college and started cooking for myself.

Spending more years in college doesn’t necessarily equate to more educated.
In fact, with the nature of the propaganda taught in modern universities and the useless degrees, many of those graduating come out dumber and more broke.

Yeah but listen man, the factory jobs I'm physically unable and mentally unwilling to do anyway don't exist anymore
So you can't compare this shite
