Pretty much true. I could do 97% of my job with our leaving my house but I have to be at the office 8-5. the majority of other people wouldn't be able too

been doing that schedule, and it's nice having that extra day off during the week... and my schedule now include a 5 day "weekend" every 3 weeks...

Don't even get me started on "meetings." Meetings are a gigantic waste of time. Seems to be something older generations love.

Our company allows for a similar level of autonomy. It isn't a huge problem, but the issues weed out the people who can't work in that kind of environment. I had to green light a termination last week because of it. In this case, the work was good, but it was late too often. We see both types. We have several layers of review to catch bad work, and peer pressure and bonus incentives for meeting deadlines.

My ideal schedule would be something like 6:30-12:00 then 5-7:30. I'm not productive at all in the middle of the day.

Working from home all the time is awful.

I was hoping to have reliable jet packs to tool around in before this.

6a - 2p would be my first choice after 4 10s.

I'd probably blow my brains out if I worked at home. I need to get away from the house.
I work from home.
It can kinda suck being here a lot.
However, I can do errands when no one else is, which is awesome.
And I get little to no pushback when I want to do stuff on the weekend.

So what about the non-Starbucks employees
Jeanie is in the prime of her life; and likes to go out at night and hang with her friends. Dale is in school; so they both work the night shift.
Karen is a single mom and she brings her two kids to school everyday and works the day shift with Ben who hustles a second job at a wherehouse at night.

Damn, I don't even go to bed until 12 to 1AM, sometimes 2.

Hm, yeah, my job will still require people actually out at work 24/7. Don't see that changing any time soon.

Unless a robot replaces you.
And then AI replaces most or the rest of us.

I worked at home for a few years. Really worked better for me because I was responsible for multiple sites in several states.
That being said I went into the sites on a regular basis. There's nothing like getting the feel of how things are actually going "hands on".

I like a mix as well, and I like the freedom to choose (more of an option at my level). I am working from home this week while my wife is out if town for work. I wake up while my son is still sleeping, get some work done, send some emails, etc. When he wakes up I feed him and out on an Mickey while I take a call. Dress him and get him to daycare. Work until it's time to get him.
Tomorrow I need to meet with a local client so I'll get him up early and get him to daycare and spend the day at the client until about 3:30 to beat traffic home to get him.
Playing it by ear on if I go back to that client Thursday.

This won't ever include my career, but I would hate to mix work and home. I like a defined separation.

I hear ya but I'm a morning person. I'm up at 4 every weekday. Love it now that I'm used to it. World needs night owls too tho
