re: Millennial wealth is still lagging behind previous generations at the same age

Most millennials don’t want blue collar jobs because they see the writing on the wall in terms of automation.
Most are placing a bet on themselves (student debt) in hope they can get into a field that pays the bills and won’t get automated within 10 years.

This report/comparison is flawed. They are counting homes
That are mortgaged as wealth, when in reality you essentially leasing-to-own your house from the bank until you pay it off. That isn’t truly wealth. Yes I understand you can refinance and use it as collateral for buying but saying millennials are doing worse because they aren’t buying houses is a very narrow minded, borderline old sounding way of thinking.

While I agree, they are going to automate pluming, electrical, finish carpentry and the like within our generation?

Boomers inherited the best economy in the history of the world and ruined it within 20 years. Blame them for Gen X and Meliennials lagging behind

Fair point. I had to help a coworker change his tire last week. He's 29

In general, probably about $15/hour.

Bull. I’ve seen the bill after calling these guys. If they make half of what is billed for per hour they are well over $15/hr

Boomers got rich off the backs of marginalized people because of Jim Crow and slavery

Ok. $17.50/hour.

Don’t forget their marginalization of Chinese railroad workers

For an apprentice level job. Not for a master union worker.

You're too good for them. And these are six figure jobs.

I’m doing fine at 27. Own a house that I make extra payments every month on, Roth that I max every year, and only have about 4k left on (which I plan to fully pay off in the beginning of spring). After the car note, I will be debt free outside of my mortgage.
