Based on what data besides your two anecdotal stories?

These threads are always the same. Anecdote Andy the Boomer comes in talking about he worked so hard and millenial shitheads are just lazy, entitled frickups.

All the while posting no data supporting his claims and ignoring data to the contrary.

I was born in 90. I grew up with a rotary phone on the wall. I remember the rise of the internet, and dial up at a young age. The first weird Nokia phones, but I was not born with them. I was born at a perfect age to watch them begin to emerge, and evolve into what they are. I grew up at a time when people had these things, but not everyone. At my earliest memories most didnt, but that swiftly changed over the years. I am far from a gen Z.

My parents/aunts/uncles all retired by 60ish and travel and have many activities they participate in. The last two companies I have worked for have 75+ year olds still working. Wtf??? Why do these people live to work? Get a hobby.

Millennials live in urban or suburban areas with small or no tracts of land. They realize that they don’t want to work to keep up large tracts or land and also didn’t grow up outdoors because of gaming and technology. Old timers have much more land. This is not too surprising.

It’s just odd that for years you never really heard of cost of living and rents rising as much as the last decade, really the last 5 or so years. Is it because of social media or 24/7 news? Not to make it a political thing but we had Democrat and Republican presidents for years before and seem to have never had an issue with skyrocketing home prices and rents. What gives?

Houses? They all want to live right next to downtown, then bitch about the price. Head to the burbs and commute fellas.

Education? Blame the government. Everyone gets a loan these days.

Healthcare? Young folks shouldn’t need to see the doc that often.

Other items? As someone else said, spending $15 per beer add up. That’s on them.

I think it's partly because of technology advances.

Things like AirBNB and VRBO. TONS of properties of off the long term rental market in every major metro area, and prices of homes have skyrocketed (again, in part) because of how lucrative STR's can be.

The NOLA apartment/condo/shotgun double etc market went insano after airbnb hit the scene. Demand for long term rentals remains steady while supply has plummeted.

I’ve heard this a lot but I’ve never actually seen the data on this. Could you provide a link? As a millennial myself I am genuinely curious

The Boomers actually paid into the system and expect returns. How much have millennials paid in to the system?

Jobs are increasingly becoming concentrated in larger markets which drives up the cost of real estate in the city and surrounding suburbs.

But hasn’t this been the case since the turn of the century, which was 20 years ago?

Maybe to a certain extent. I think it's accelerating though. Markets like Dallas, Austin, Charlotte will continue to get more expensive.
