I am shocked at this based on the fire danger that they face. We wouldn’t have welders, untility workers, etc. wear something that has the potential to melt!

When I was in basic training at Lackland AFB in August of 1968,12 airmen died due to heat related illness in 7 weeks. The training did not change no matter the weather. Fatigues were hot and usually soaked with sweat by mid day.
Did they get the jab?

Most of the military doesn’t give a rat’s arse about your comfort. Many moons ago I was stationed on an aircraft carrier on the North Arabian Sea. 105+ temps were a daily occurrence. Swim call felt like floating in soup. And yet flight deck guys had to wear long sleeves, heavy deck vests and “cranials”… thick padded safety helmets. No exceptions were Ever made for temperature. In the Iraq war, Army was even worse, long sleeves with full gear, and humping a heavy pack to boot. I’m always surprised when I see these pics of Air Force plane captains with nothing but earmuffs, t-shirts , and cammie pants. Wearing stylish shades, of course.
Below is an example of Navy regulation carrier deck dress (sans the masks):

The United States Air Force has Crew Chiefs or just chief. Plane Capts. are a jolly ole Navy thing.

Mine is NOMEX and Nylon, I usually never roll my sleeves up and long pants don’t bother me at all. I have zero issues in the sun and agree it’s the long sleeves and pants are better for you in direct sunlight.

A couple of my friends when I lived in SoCal complained profusely about "Camp Polk" which is where they trained before being sent to Vietnam. They were happy with the milder and less humid weather in Vietnam by comparison.
Right after Desert Storm, my fist duty station was Fort Polk. Holy hell it was miserable during the summer. Seems like it rained everyday about 2 PM for about 20 minutes anytime we were in the field, which was all the damned time. I mean rain like a monsoon. Then suddenly it was gone and not a cloud in the sky. When the rain was done, you’d have steam coming off you.

You know there are summer weight uniforms right?
Summer weights are still hot AF. They should let us have shorts like the Aussies.

That said, it’s not like you’re out marching in uniform in that shite, at least not in the AF.
The Tech School Airmen are out there marching everyday unless there is lightning within 5.

Is this a question?

When I was in, it was like 6am to school and 11am back to dorms, well before the nasty afternoon heat.

The fatigues really aren't that bad in the heat. You get used to it and they make a top that breathes pretty well in the summer

Can we banish the phrase “feels like temperature”? If the thermometer says the temperature is 90 degrees, then that’s the “feels like temperature.” It’s a retarded concept designed to stoke panic among women and weak men.

That really is a low IQ take. Work in 90 degrees @ 35% and 90 degrees @ 85% and see which one saps you quicker. The body loses its ability to cool itself in high humidity. It is just science.
I come from the BDU days, the cotton ones were horrendous in the summer but the ripstop BDUs really weren't bad at all. Digging fighting positions were a real PITA in combat posture (blouse on sleeves down) but outside of bullshite like that I never really felt like complaining. I also knew what it was like to train in MOPP4 so everything else was like a nice spring day in comparison.

Look at the desert dwellers of the Middle East. They aren’t making a fashion statement.

Sure, right after we banish humidity.
95 degrees in New Orleans and 95 degrees in Nevada do not feel the same for a reason. And that reason is not weakness.

Says the person who wants to argue that the temperature “feels hotter” than what it actually is. We are truly living in idiocracy.
