The other part of SAC is the PAG, political action group. Its who Hillary and the state department used to kick up all the Arab Spring bs in the ME.

Your “familia” is well trained, another term for glorified, medic. He went into combat and patched up wounded dudes. It’s literally the exact definition of medic. I don’t know why you would take it as some sort of personal insult.

Those were some bad motherfrickers. I’d love to read more on them. Those could be the baddest motherfrickers the USM has ever put in action.

Yeah, not putting them down or anything, but do they know more than a medic or corpsman for the regular infantry unit?

Well they definitely are better trained than your normal line corpsmen or medic. But the 18Ds and Naval Special Warfare Corpsmen are just as capable.

I guess they’d have to considering that the missions those guys go on aren’t necessarily on the beaten trail.

Same for USMC/USA aviation.
I could get down with that. At least for the fixed wing side.

To an extent, yes.

I was in training with an 18D and while his knowledge base was beyond impressive, he even conceded that PJs take it to a different level.

That’s not to say that they couldn’t train him to their level but as it’s stands now in spec ops medicine PJs are tops.

There is a guy that wrote some books on this. I read a couple but my buddy has them now. I can't remember the author's name.

Training requirements was Green Beret. Where the really badass part came in is volunteering for something that had a 50% survival and nearly 100% chance of getting purple heart.

What fixed wing aircraft is the Army even flying? I wouldn't be mad if the Army reabsorbed all CAS.

But there’s no reason you can’t take an 18D and bring him to that level without having to draw another medic from a completely different branch. It’s inefficient. If there’s a reason why 18D’s don’t train to that level it’s because the funding is tied up training a whole other group of medics in a completely different branch fro the sole purpose of supporting SOF forces.

And doing so knowing that you would never get any recognition from anybody and a lifetime of hard memories.

All I know is SFOD-D are the best. But you’ll never know what they do unless something gets completely fricked.

SeALs = maritime operations
Green Berets = unconventional warfare and FID
Rangers* = high value raids and seizures

*Rangers are assigned to the 75th. Ranger School grads are not Rangers.

Forgot about Raiders. They don't really do anything unique though and waste SOCom resources.

The 75th also has a recon platoon.

Well your original argument was that the current teams of AFSOC/NAVSOC could be dissolved and MARSOC/USASF could take over the roles.

The same rule could then apply to the aviation units of USMC/USA. Both the navy and AF have state of the art aircraft and both fly helicopters.

Wouldn’t be a stretch to train cobra/Apache pilots in the navy or the AF.
