might be a tad hopeful, but I think covid19 will convince many people to stop being obese

I think in the time beyond this pandemic fading, America will see a substantial drop in obesity rates. We may even get to where European obesity rates are.

Many Americans will see how dangerous it is to be fat.

We will enter a “weight loss great awakening” so to speak. The gyms will be teeming with newcomers, the sidewalks will be trodded upon by nascent feet, and fruits, veggies, etc wil see an increase in demand.

Like I said, call me naive, moronic, quixotic, etc....but I think this virus will springboard healthy living revolution that will be one of the defining developments of the 2020s

The novelty of something new wears off fast. Plenty of people are now at home binge eating from boredom, depression, etc.

I hope it prepares people more. And the country. Needs to be an overstock of life support materials when this is apparently a reality now.

And a routine. At home and as far as government goes.

We all need to take notes on how the government, and others act. If this is lucky enough to be a drill and things get sorted fast..the let it be a drill for them, and for everyone else.

Admittedly, I have been doing 3.5 miles with a 1500ft elevation gain on my incline trainer every day for 3 weeks.

Takes me just over 1 hour and burns about 950 calories.

I don't think I've heard once on any TV show that weight is a factor in how the virus can increase the odds of dying. Shows are too afraid to give that info and have fat people boycott.

I wouldn’t count on it.I know several people that had the gastric sleeve surgery, lose a good bit of weight initially. Then 1-2 years later they are back as fat as they were when they had the surgery.
I can’t understand why a bariatric surgeon would go into that field.I would find it depressing that the majority of my cases ended in failure.

Unless you’re paying everyone’s bills, then it’s only temporary.

I’ve seen a lot of new faces out and about running and riding bikes. I’ve seen large and small getting some exercise. It gives me hope but then you realize because yesterday was 74 degrees, breezy with mild humidity. When the temps hit 85+, I’m sure the need to get out will expire. Then and only then will people really start to stay home.

People won't worry about this virus after it passes

Just like Americans don't care how dangerous it is to be fat

Because 300.000 Americans and 2.8 million worldwide who already die each year as a result of obesity was not enough to change them?

Majority of Americans are pretty stupid and lazy if you get right down to it.

We’ll stop washing hands.

We’ll continue eating like shite.

We’d rather buy loads of toilet paper instead of cleaning material.

We’d rather risk getting some virus by going to public gatherings when all we have to do it simply stay home.

We like convenience. It’s too easy to just not try.

It never hurts to take better care of your own health.

But for now, the immediate priority is to do whatever you can to lesson your chances of catching this. It may expose something you never realized you had and exploit it- and turn you into a contagious host.

Follow the guidelines and be well.
