Still so early but the GFS has been somewhat consistent with some very cold air coming in on November 13th. Then overnight it added some sleet/mix precipitation to the run. Also, that night it has us dipping to the low to mid 20s.

It should be noted, however, that the EURO doesn’t support this idea at this time.

Is the Euro still showing temps much warmer? Hard to go in when the Euro isn’t close to agreeing.

Sounds like all the Home Depot’s in the area need to be bundled up.

Yea I agree I’m cautiously optimistic since the EURO isn’t on board. If the EURO jumps on board I’m getting the chains on my tires.

Man you got my hopes up that ICE was going to be busting heads and shipping out illegals.

It's bad enough people can't drive in rain.

Ftr- Having experienced both, I prefer a slut event to a sleet event.

No, but even the forecast is shocking. I'm glad I saw that you posted this. I was half way to it

The GFS always overdoes its long range forecasts and eventually moderates it to a more reasonable forecast in the short term.

Although the EURO isn't on board, the Canadian certainly is. So that's two models - a major American and a somewhat major Canadian model - both agreeing on some very cold rain and possibly sleet mix with both showing the same time frame.

This may well turn out to be something to keep an eye on.

I find it hard to believe there can be lingering moisture + air cold enough for frozen precip this far south, this early in the year. What's the earliest winter precip event seen in the gulf south?

We tend to get a winter precip event in North Texas in November - not of major consequence but it doesn't take much

We have rather cold air coming thru on the 12th, I believe, but are to be dry

I never remember us having frozen precip this early, ever. I believe the earliest may be late November for ice and a couple years ago, December 6,7, or 8 for snow when we got 7" of snow in the BR area.

I don't have my hopes up for this possible event because it's so early but if models stick to their guns over the next few days then that will change.
