Not familiar with the neighborhoods of NOLA and looking at Airbnbs for this coming weekend.

What's the Mid-City section like? I know it's pretty close to Treme and I've heard mixed reviews. Curious about how the area is. I do like its proximity to the Canal St. Line.

Any other neighborhoods worth a look at?

You mean Mid-City? That area has some really great restaurants and bars and you can get any place pretty quickly.

I wouldn't really consider it a "suburb" but it is one of the best neighborhoods in NOLA imo. Lots of good places to eat and drink, definitely more local. And easy to get to the tourist areas from there via Uber, Streetcar, etc.

HOWEVER...just like anywhere in NOLA, pockets of it are great, and pockets of it are rough.

Really depends on exact location.

Mid-City is the neighborhood I spend by far the most amount of time in outside of my own.

Mid-City is not a suburb. It’s the middle of the city. It has many great and terrible neighborhoods that vary street to street or even block to block. Some are safe, some are not. Lots of great restaurants, very walkable, short bike rides from the french quarter and cbd, access to streetcar lines on Canal and Carrolton.

I would run any address of an air bnb by a local before booking.

This.... Mid-City is a pretty large swath and on Airbnb and other services the more appealing neighborhood boundaries get stretched quite a good bit

Look at the French Quarter Guest Houses, Inn on Ursulines is my favorite, if you can’t come up with a suitable one.

*In b4 the dickheads bashing nola*

but Mid City is an awesome area. Close to city park, a variety of good food, and a couple of fun neighborhood bars. Not as much action as uptown but still a good area. The area stretching from Carrollton/Canal to City Park Ave is the place to stay if youre down there.

Mid-City is not a suburb. It is in the middle of the city. Mitch took down a statue in that neighborhood, but he also built a new world class airport, so its a confusing situation for lots of posters on this board.

Stay away from Broad Ave. The lake side of Jeff Davis Pkwy is where you want to stay.

Broad and that area is quickly gentrifying, but I do agree it is a safer bet for a tourist lake side of Jeff Davis, or in the immediate area near Bayou Wine/Beer Garden

I now live in the NOLA suburb Mid-City. I would like to welcome you to the neighborhood. During Advent I do nightly Christmas caroling and give out free handmade ornaments. It is a wonderful place next to America’s greatest park.

I’m curious as to how you deduced that an area called “mid-city”, is not in the middle of the city, but in the suburbs.

Oh and mid city has some great areas and some horrible areas, I’d update the thread with specifics when you narrow down a place. Generally, the areas closest to the bayou are pretty nice

Don't have exact locations but they seem like they're a couple blocks off Canal near the Jefferson Davis Trail
