quote:

She put out an invitation on Facebook: “Dear sisters that live in Alabama, Ohio, Georgia, Arkansas, Missouri, or any of the other states that follow with similar laws” restricting access to abortion. “We will support you with several nights lodging and transportation to and from your appointment.”

For free.

O’Brien, who runs the three-story Yale Hotel on Main Street in the city that bears the same name and is known for its annual Bologna Festival, said she couldn’t stand by and do nothing after five states — Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio and Kentucky — passed so-called fetal heartbeat laws earlier this year.

quote:

O'Brien, who is 55, and a mother of three and grandmother of seven, thought of the Underground Railroad, which was used to lead slaves north to freedom. If a network like that is needed now for women seeking access to abortion, she pledged to be part of that coalition, bringing them to Michigan.

“This is important,” said O’Brien. “This is my line. There’s no coming back from this. You start taking away the right for women to control their own bodies, and we’re done for as a civilization.

Is it bad that I am going to get my wife to pretend to be pregnant to get a free trip out of this?

Crazy what people think constitutes the moral high ground nowadays.

I'm ambivalent about anti-abortion laws. I think states and cities have an inherent right to pass them, but it also comes off as a political gimmick... Roy Moore type shite.

All that said, I would never, ever do anything to facilitate abortion. I just think that's awful.

I Don't see the problem.

We all want to preach against abortion like people are just lopping babies' heads off in the public square.

When the truth of the matter is, when you sit back and observe the majority of the comments and outlook on just this board, most of y'all bitch about crime, the uneducated, the world class pregnant moms posting "tinder ads", and basically just a who's who of all levels of trashiness; don't pretend you don't think for a second, life could probably do without most of those winners.

I mean, let's face it....the smart and responsible are being outnumbered and are having way less kids than their counterparts. Just look at the pregnant tinder chick saying, "oh, but I'll let you bust a nut in me" while she's 7+ months pregnant. That dirty bitch is unfortunately gonna birth a litter and none of those kids are going to be Rhodes Scholars. In fact, her kids will probably have another litter of kids before your one kid goes to college.

I don't understand why most Bible thumpers...mostly males too...get so angry about this.

Pretty sure those same folks would be singing a different tune when an unwanted pregnancy affects their circle.

Abortion will always happen regardless of the legality of it.

Is it just for women? Or can I identify as a lady who wants to kill a baby and get a free vacation too? Who are they to tell me I can’t get an abortion just because I don’t have a womb or ovaries or a vagina? Some sort of phobe?

It’s amazing how bent out shape some get on being told that they can’t kill a baby. Future generations will look back on abortion as barbaric.

Again: anti-abortion laws are mostly a gimmick. Read what I posted.

I'm not helping anyone get an abortion, though, and to do that and try and paint it as some kind of act of charity is ridiculous.

And the eugenicist argument (which you traffic in, and Planned Parenthood was founded on) is flawed even if you think it's morally OK. Abortion is not just for the poor and stupid. The truly well-off were flying their young daughters to Europe to get things "taken care of" long before Roe v. Wade.

It's scary how many people are willing to assist and cheering on killing babies
