Are the doing sprigs (I think that's what it is called)

I knew some Mexicans in Houston that swore by this. You dig up tiny pieces of a good yard, and replant them in parts of the yard or other yards that are struggling.

And damn if they didn't have the nicest lawn in the neighborhood.

Id guess their digging up crabgrass since thats pretty much the only way to get rid of it. Had to do that myself to my lawn. It sucks.
