This looks like the equivalent of lake avenue

Nah... Lake Avenue is a mix of college students, families and younger working people... Some nicer apartments better than others...

That area on N Elm is shite... If that doesn't look sketchy, what does...?

This is the actual street...

Is this the parish/church that was just merged with another church?

Our Lady of Divine Providence (next parish over) is losing their parish school as it is being turned into a special needs school. Maybe that is what you were thinking of?

A lot of it is Lakeview overflow. Either the prices are too high in Lakeview, or the residents are tired of the BS from S&WB and the crumbling streets (while paying higher taxes than Jeff Parish).

It's a pretty typical pattern. As communities age and gentrify, the closer-in suburbs get better / more expensive, while the mid-range suburbs get worse. It makes sense that the eastern areas of Metry would be doing better than than the western areas.

Really Causeway to West End, lots of teardowns and renovations. I live in the area and just added 700sq ft on.

Metairie aging like a lot of other places. Ain’t what it used to be since Katrina.

Certain parts have gotten better and other parts are worse.

A lot of the bad is in the crappy apartment buildings. It's weird that Metairie has virtually zero new apartment buildings.

Where would they put them? They would need to tear down something to build them.

That’s minor league compared to Shreveport.

There were 7 shootings in 7 hours a few days ago. This shite is getting ridiculous.

W. Metry and N. Starrett. which is same corner as Our Lady of Divine Providence, and not far at all from the other two shootings.

They made an arrest for the two W. Metairie shootings. SWAT team picked up a guy on Trefny Avenue.
