So he misread some signals, tried to kiss her, then realized she wasn't into him and bounced with his head down. How is this even a story?

Oh I believe her.
It just isn't really an issue.
In her own words, she did nothing to stop him and didn't say no. When she finally said no, he left.
It's the most clear cut case of respecting when a woman says no. This is absurd. You get blasted even when you do the right thing.
