Seems like this is the kind of summer weather I remember when I was a kid. Seemed like it rained every afternoon without fail. Sometimes it was pretty damn bad storms, too.

90% of the summers in BR in the 70s and 80s were as follows:

Partly cloudy in the early AM
Cleared up and heated up in the morning/midday
Early to mid-afternoon pop up thunderstorms - sauna when not raining
Cleared up in late afternoon
Warm evening

Airport at MSY has recorded thunderstorms every day this July. 8/8 days. Rainfall through 7 days was over 3 inches.

1. Abundant moisture from the Gulf.
2. Surface heating.
3. Surface convergence eg inverted troughs/ tropical waves.

4. Moderate instability of the atmosphere.

equates to daily scattered to numerous showers and storms.

Lived here all my life. This weather is no different than a typical summer. Be glad for it otherwise you'd hate it even more with heat indexes 110 with 90% humidity.

What. It seems like it always rains the 4th. June July the rain starts. Then seems to get cracked ground dry and hot in August

Already happened last Thursday on my drive home from work.

Just was keeping with the theme of your post. Bitching about weather that is quite normal for the location.

Lsunurse is a very very gay man FWIW.

Rule of thumb...90 percent of the women on the intrawebb are men. The other 10 percent are cops.

...

I thought with my knowledge drop of you living in Arizona and all would lead you to believe I know a thing or two about the OT.

I was being equally sarcastic but carry on.

The planet knows when to balance itself out. It has been too hot and too dry too early in the season. Rain is a balance and more rain is coming. Embrace it

I find it insane that year after year people are like “it’s raining more than ever” or “it’s so hot this summer.”

No fricking shite! It’s the South. It’s Louisnana. It has done this shite every damn year I’ve been alive. Is weather amnesia a thing?

We have been getting non stop isolated showers for the past week and there’s no letting up in the forecast.

Welcome to Louisiana. We also have some of the highest auto insurance rates in the country, terrible roads, corrupt politicians, crappy schools, but also lots of good food.

That should about cover the obvious. That's what we were doing, right?

I'm enjoying the hell out of it here in Houston, as it's usually just a super scorching, hot, Mexican wind all summer with rain every now and then. We're getting some rain here for a change. After this trend ends, I will be coating the house, yard and trees with Talstar.

Actually, August is usually still wet and it’s usually when we get the most hurricanes. Mid-late September and October usually are the dryest times of the year.
