That was always seen as the B league when I was growing up.

I’m not in the loop but it seems there are world and national championships in every age group of travel ball, etc .. all over America. But it’s really nice to see kids competing. The more the merrier

Probably. The TV station was there early, but I think I was the only media there after the game

Ha! Only one of the "yden"s on Eastbank. Non-conventional travel ball lineup.

Travel ball is a different animal than local little league ball. Local little league ball is tied to a local playground and typically comprises of ball players within a certain localized area, i.e., a zip code.

Travel ball is pay-to-play. Little league ball has a minimal fee to sign up. Last time I checked, little league was roughly $30 for a player.

Not necessarily. Both the Eastbank Little League team and the Lafayette Little League team are made up of travel ball players. Not one kid on our team didn't play travel ball and I would assume the same could be said for Lafayette. Our fee is not $30. Much more than that. These are the all-star teams though, so for regular season, there were definitely players that were not travel ball players. Our regular season fee is much more than $30 as well.

Nephew is up in Ruston now. They play Pontiff tomorrow and Saturday.

Crazy that they had to drive 4 hrs away to play a team that's a few miles away in Metairie

Some of y’all don’t understand what Little League is. Little League is the name of the league.

Just like Dixie Youth or Cal Ripken

The Little League teams are travel ball teams.

These teams aren’t made up of your Wreck All Star teams. These teams are made up of legit majors and AAA travel kids that play together all summer.

Yeah your nephew played in Morgan City last weekend I bet. That’s Dixie Youth. Much different than Little League.

Not even close to the same

Lafayette, South Lake Charles and East Bank are made up of the elite players from their metro areas.

One of the posters earlier explained it in detail. After East Bank won the LLWS World Series in 2019, South Lake Charles & Lafayette put the best metro area players together for their all star teams.

John Curtis’ baseball coach was following yesterday’s game closely because there are multiple Patriots on the East Bank roster.

Yep. This I believe is their downfall. Eastbank’s pitching was very deep. Just couldn’t get their bats hot. Unless Lafayette can get some of those other guys to really get going, they only have two dominate arms. And they need to keep their errors down.

yep pretty much. SLC didnt get all the best kids but got most of them. Jordan Griffin who is prolly best player in the state was on SLC team. He was on teh Tx Fl canes team out of south florida which just won the PG world series. He quit to go for the LLWS. To explain how good he is, he was invited to the Perfect game all american game.

LINK

these are the types of kids that are making up these teams. If the trend holds where the travel ball players come back their 12u year, well i would expect SLC, Eastbank and Laffy to be in the finals pretty much every year. I actually expect SLC and Eastbank to dominate based on the size of the charters that put SLC at disadvantage(read below)

one person talked about them being local players, that is true, no pulling from outside designated areas unless the kid goes to school in that area. For example, SLC can not go pull a Sulphur kid to their team unless the kid went to school in the SLC district starting in august. Eastbank gets to pull from a huge area based on their charter, Lafayette is kind of a greater Lafayette draw now. SLC still has the very old charter and is very limited on where they can draw from and also has the mid city ll in town also which takes some of the kids. Sulphur, westlake, moss bluff also all have thier own so SLC cant pull from them.

as far as cost, that all depends on the district. Some are free, some cost a good bit. Depends on the Recs tax base etc. Like Spar in Sulphur has a huge tax base with the plants, so they are much cheaper than SLC which doesnt.

but make no mistake about it, this isnt your daddies ll all star team.
