Men surround officer during crash investigation, charged with assault

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Monroe police say one of their officers was assaulted by three men while investigating a motorcycle crash near Louisville Avenue on Saturday.
According to arrest reports, it happened around 2:51 a.m. on Sept. 28. The officer saw that a motorcycle had crashed on Breard Street near Concordia Avenue.
As the officer stopped to investigate the crash and check on the rider, he says he was approached by three members of what he called a "biker gang."
Those men are identified as Jeffery Bridges, Thomas Drinkwine, and Marshall Wayne Mann.
The officer says the suspects prevented him from checking on the rider who had crashed and, against his instructions, helped the rider back onto his bike. The rider then left the scene.
The officer says the remaining men then walked toward him in an aggressive manner and attempted to surround him multiple times, making him feel as if they were going to attack him.
When law enforcement backup arrived, the suspects were taken into custody.

Assault is threat of a battery in Louisiana so if they were being aggressive and/or made threats it would constitute assault.
