I can understand a guy sitting in a chair in front of the fitting rooms, playing on his phone. What I don't get is the active participation in picking out and discussing clothes. Maybe I've been missing out?
Do you not like the style of certain things?
My wife tries on clothes and some of them look very nice. Some of them look not as nice. She asks my opinion. I tell her which colors I like. I tell her when I like something, but I'm unsure if it looks good to others. I tell her when clothes accentuate certain parts of her that she may or may not appreciate.
I don't see how that's a crazy thing to imagine if you're present with the person you're shopping with. If you'd rather be doing other things, sure.
Personally I'd be upset if I was with my wife doing something I like, let's say picking out gym equipment, and she was worried about being home watching a TV show or something. I feel like it's only right to try to not make her feel that way and be with her when we are together. It's also easy to do when you actually do want to be with the person.

we got my mom a tablet loaded with photos that sat on a shelf and constantly scrolls through the pictures, you could log it on to wifi and send new photos
Cruel ailment.

Went to hobby lobby with wife yesterday and a lady told me I was a saint for being there with my wife.
She did buy me some of those cherry hard candies for being good.

I'd rather have a root canal with no anesthesia than a wife , period.

My wife is awesome, if we're on vacation and she wants to go shopping I'll mix a drink, and go have a good time. She doesn't waste hours doing it and trying on stuff.

I'd rather stand in a TSA line or at Disney than shop for ANYTHING. If UPS, FED Ex and the USPS was to quit delivering packages and grocery stores quit delivering groceries I'd be shite out of luck in a week....I despise shopping with or without my wife....

It's hard to find something for an 88-year-old with dementia.
Not to be a dick, but I feel like the dementia would make it very easy
Just buy her the same thing as last year...she won't remember it.
I can say that since both my parents have dementia and, in the case of my dad, he jokes about it all the time...says "I can read the same book over and over...it's great!".....

I like my wife.
Doesn't really matter too much what we're doing. Pretty happy with all the time we get to spend together.
I love my wife and cherish the time we spend together, especially since we do not perform mundane tasks like clothes shopping together. She will accompany me, on occasion, to Home Depot, and about half the time we wind buying some shite we didn't need of didn't particularly want except in the minute. I can sit in a boat with a rod and reel for hours without as much as a nibble and be happy...she'd be bored out of her mind. We have been married for 37 years, if we spent every free minute together I suspect one of us would have murdered the other one years ago....

Some guys actually like spending time with their wives. sorry you chose poorly.

Those men you saw shopping are guaranteed to have better things to do, but they are supportive of their spouses needs. Kudos to them.
My wife may be an outlier, I have only the one so my experience is limited, but I am pretty certain she is capable of buying an outfit or a pair of shoes without my support. I am actually certain of it considering she has a closet the size of a starter home in 1970 full of outfits and shoes and god knows what all. She is also not one to parse words...had she needed my support to fill that cavernous space up she would have made it abundantly clear.

We’ve been in the change room together many times. If you know what I mean. I like my wife also.
