I’m sure damn near any crazy thing you can conjure up is “a thing” that someone, somewhere is doing. I sincerely doubt it’s common or even close to it.
There’s a reason the photos and comments in the original post look ancient. There’s a reason this particular account is posting it. There’s a reason it got the reach and engagement it did. There’s a reason it fell into the OP’s algorithm.
Finding the fringe extreme crazies and lumping them in as an honest representative of the group is a classic propaganda technique.
All that being said, the thought of this still grossed me out
