I've lost 85 lbs in the past 16 months after hearing from multiple people about them not recognizing me at first. That was all the shame I needed. It works.

Fat people should be ashamed, especially considering what we now know about obesity and health. The problem is that we're now telling people that there's nothing wrong with being a land whale. And that they should be comfortable in their ever-increasing skin.

It's like a HC of a football team, you can't treat each player the same. Different people respond to different things.
For some people "shaming" them could actually hurt them. Make them feel worse about themselves so they continue to do what they are trying to avoid doing.

Even the language used, e.g. "shaming". If I point out someone's weight to them, it's because I care about it becoming a health issue. If I don't give a damn about them, I wouldn't bother. Fat shaming is more concern than anything else.
