According to the MegaMillion website:

Friday 10/19 - 60% of all combinations played

Tuesday 10/23 - 75% of all combinations expected to be played.

I would not have expected 25% of all possible combinations would not be played tonight.

Aren't there something like 300 million possible combos? So that would mean all of America would have to play one card with no matching combinations. I can believe it.

How much would it cost to buy a ticket for every possible combination?

Without looking it up, I would assume 1-302MM chance to win, means 302MM combinations. I could be wrong.

So 604 million and you can guarantee a win.

Once again the rich get richer.

Sounds like there is probably gonna be like 10 different winners to split the pot.

I always drive to the hood to get my ticket just in case the lottery gods want to shine down on the less fortunate. Also always get a 24ozer with it to look the part.

A couple of investment groups have done this, I know on one there were multiple winners and they lost money.

Many years ago an Aussie group actually did do this with one of the state lotteries, I think it was one of the Carolinas. It caused an uproar when local pols decided to make some headlines with how a lottery should be "for the people" instead of a "shady foreign hedge fund" or some such.

They had to sue the state to fork over the money but I think they won.

Actually an Australian firm purchased $5 million dollars in Virginia in 1992 and won the $27 million jackpot. 7 million plus combinations.

Virginia may have change the rules since then to discourage this ,but I'm not sure.

So if a billionaire wanted to play, he could spend 604 mm and garuntee a win. Of course after taxes and bs, it's not quite enough to recoup costs. Not to mention the chance of someone else also hitting the winning combination and having to split the jackpot.

About 600,000,000 so you're fricked if someone else wins and you have to split the pot.

And you have to buy with cash.

You also have to consider that out of the 75% played, there are likely a lot of duplicates out there.
