I actually attend church of the highlands and feel that we are doing a lot of good things around the world. I know that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s a good fit for my family and myself. I thought this website would love it, seeing that pastor Chris Hodges is a huge LSU fan and graduate.

How much do they charge you for that cup of tea?

but- our conversation is about highly compensated mega church pastors or tv pastors. Per IRS

That would apply if the pastor is an employee of the same control group that the church and the school are in.

For example, if Ed Young, Pastor of Second Baptist Church, sends his kids for free to Second Baptist School, then yes, because the head pastor is probably a highly compensated employee, he would have to include the value of the free tuition in his W-2.

Now, let's say Joel Osteen, which doesn't have a school, send his kid to Second Baptist School. Lakeland Church (Not Joel) makes a $25,000 annual donation to Second Baptist Church. Coincidenally, of course, Joel's child gets a 100 percent scholarship to Second Baptist School.

The school doesn't owe Joel any reporting. Lakewood doesn't owe Joel any reporting, either, because their deal is between the two churches.

Now, someone could come in and say there is some self-dealing going on here. But that would require the IRS to audit both churches, and that ain't happening in today's political environment.

Well people are stupid. Let me just put it this way: if your church is charging for drinks/coffee, you do not go to a church. You belong to a scam and they are sucking you dry. I’m not talking coke machines, but if you’re $2.00 for coffee when you walk, you’ve been hoodwinked.

Serious question. Do some of these megachurches really do this? Have concession stands? I know Olsteen's church use to be where the Rockets played so it would have concession stands in it.. But I never even thought about that part of it...

Coffee, cafes etc are a thing in larger churches now. Some provide free , some charge- it normally depends on the extent of the menu- a true starbucks type cafe may charge whereas a church just providing coffee or water may not

There is no one size fits all so let's not judge all churches based on a few

I am not judging all churches. But that's a shame. Look I am all for capitalism and look, if people are dumb enough to go to a church that sells concessions then that's on them, but I just can't believe that's a thing.

Da Fuq? The coffee and donuts are free, or at least should be.

Whatever they can try to fleece you out of during the sermon covers that overhead. That’s the deal. Or at least, that’s the regular deal.

Most mega churches have basic coffee for free. Then for anything more exotic they have their own Starbucks style coffee shop.

I don’t ever recall reading in the Good Book about the Lord drinking a vanilla mochiaotta latte. But I do recall some red wine, bread, and fish.

Perhaps a café with some grilled Gulf fish might be in order for Sunday Brunch and I’d give it some thought.

If your pastor has an aircraft, he's no longer in the business of saving souls.

This is Joel Olsteen's house.

What do you think about this?

That’s the Lord’s work right there.

He want’s Joel to succeed. And he wants you to succeed too. Just send your money to the Lakewood Church and the Lord will repay you 10x -

Who fricking believes this shite? The best answer that I ever heard is MILFS who would have spent or wasted it in multi-level marketing anyway.

frick, I wonder if the Kool-Aid of the pussy or the Kool-Aid of the church is stronger at this point.

Anyway possible way to frick the IRS and runaway government spending, I say go for it. More churches! I'm not even mad it's used a lot to hide income.

So, this means you are ok with televangelists fricking over the US Government?

As we all sit in traffic and O’Steen flies on his private jet and Swaggart and others ride in tax-free limos?

Well, I suppose we can put you on the ‘gave up and checked out early’ list.

I'm sure he is asking for forgiveness because he got caught and the gravy train stopped.

There will always be exceptions to the rule, kinda like your ability to not be able to think. Your problem, you think everyone is a bad person just like you. Shame.......
