probably about to be single. I think someone has drawn her into this whole church thing because she is very vulnerable right now.

I bet there is a full band with drums too.

Of course there is.

People are tired of standing, kneeling, sitting, stand again, kneel again, sit, stand in line for bread and wine, stand and kneel again. Then sit and stand one last time.

There’s no small groups, no community whatsoever

I’m glad I left the Catholic Church years ago.

And FTR, I was born and raised Catholic all through elementary and high school. Married a Catholic girl. Even got married in the Catholic Church.

We’ve both been much happier being away from that Cult.

Yea, it's normal for someone like my aunt who has always said stuff like that. Very odd for this family member to make such a quick life turn around from being completely not into church then suddenly at the age of 64 can't have one single convo with me without bringing up church.

It’s probably more about the message the pastor gives and and the fellowship from the other members.

It doesn’t mean she’s giving them all her money.

Are there any churches in Prairieville that could be Joel Osteen-ish?

A Joel Osteen-ish church isn't necessarily cult-like, or at least Im not afraid of a church like that.

Osteen is just, to put it simply, a prosperity gospel guy. Aka, if you love God enough and you think happy thoughts you will be a billionaire! Thats the #1 knock on Osteen.

The cult-like churches do much weirder things.

Their salaries should be listed on the church's public 990 forms. See guidestar.org.

Churches are not required to file form 990

TW, there’s no “Mega Church” in Prairieville.

thank you for answering this

Just because it’s a non denominational Christian Church that aren’t Catholic or Baptist make it a cult.

she has never been committed to any specific type of church as long as I have known her.

I'm good. I don't need anybody to explain the bible to me or how I should be living. I have plenty of bibles in my house and if I have a question, I am perfectly capable of finding the answer without help from a church.

One upvote isn't enough to give

We've gone to a MegaChurch now for over 6 years. I can't begin to tell you how much closer it's made my relationship with God.
Pooling resources instead of local churches competing against each other allows us to assist so many more people and programs with a higher degree of impact.

Same here. I was worried you may be hanging in a pine tree but obviously that’s not the case.

We’ve done the same but we’ve found one that we really like and we’ve become really good friends with the pastor and his wife. They are our age, grew up the same and just have a lot in common, except for a few things.

But all in all, it’s a good fit for us.

Is she trying to get people to go to church with her or talk about getting saved?

she hasn't talked about getting saved yet but every convo is turning into devotional/church talk.

It’s all fun and games until the pastor starts smashing the entire women’s prayer group including your wife and daughter

Not to mention my wife does small groups once or twice a week at night so that gives me an empty house for a few hours so I’m not complaining

growing up in BR, I had friends that were baptist, catholic, nondenom and jewish...so I heard it all. Living in MS, it's all basically southern baptist and methodist. I think it was good for me to grow up that way and get to know a little of all of it.
