If you don't want to go down the benzo road (and you shouldn't), hydroxyzine is a non-narcotic anti-anxiety med that works very well. The down side is it will knock your arse out at the levels prescribed for anti-anxiety.

This place is great. I smoke the CBD bud for my arthritic and inflammatory back pain (I have Crohn's disease). It works good and you get a nice calming effect.

As for anxiety meds that won't kill your boner, viibryd and trintellix don't have nearly the side effects the other brands do. Keep working out, try to get some time in the sun/outdoors, and keep seeing your therapist. This will get better.

Theanine is a really good herbal supplement for anxiety.

If he wanted to go holistic and not do marijuana or CBD then theanine would be my advice as well. It stacks really well with caffeine. FYI, it is the amino acid that gives green tea its calming effect.

Glycine also helps for the same reasons (amino acid).

Most people don't realize this but CBD with a THC content less than 0.3% is legal nationwide. You can buy it online (link provided above). That site is great, but you'll do ok as long as you get it from some place that tests their product (not a gas station or convenience store).

I have found that developing a trusting relationship with God has resolved my issues relating to anxieties. Go about changing the way you look at the world around you, what you find to be important and view those things differently as God views us differently.

i've heard many bad things about xanax so i don't think i will consider that. what is the latest and greatest magic pill that also won't impact me sexually? i've read that these pills can cause problems for men.

I’d only do pills as a last resort, dude. I tried some and it made my situation worse to the point of being a suicidal mess. Do fricking yoga, go hiking, exercise, start running, go on a vacation (I know this hard times for that), just do something to get your mind off this and your priorities in order.

And to anyone who will actually tell you a drug to take or recommends one, do not listen to them. They don’t know what they’re talking about, because the ones that do wouldn’t dare recommend one without seeing you in person and talking with you for at least an hour.

It's what I've been using ever since I started experiencing anxiety (which was exacerbated by strong weed which I have since quit, outside of drunken puffs). Really can't recommend it enough. Helps with blood pressure from the smokes, too.

ETA: It will also make you in to a cheap drunk.

A lot of the bad things published about benzodiazepines are bs funded by big pharma. It works great and if you’re not a drinker, find a competent psychiatrist (no small order), and take as prescribed while engaging in natural stress reduction techniques (like your exercise) it is a cheap and effective (within 20-30 min) medication.

I'm just scared as shite of having some kind of psychiatric condition listed on my file if firearm regulations ever ramp up.

Fair enough, but there are ways around it. If you don’t go through insurance, the doctor doesn’t need to diagnose. Since psychiatrists are usually seen infrequently, it’s not a bad deal to get appropriate medication and privacy. Do tell the doctor this is a concern of yours- most will understand. If you don’t want to disclose firearm ownership, shape it as concerns about the divorce, stigma, etc. They’ll know what you mean.

Xanax isn’t bad if taken correctly and not abused. I take a low dose in the morning and it dies the trick. I don’t take on weekends if I’m having a cocktail or two. You just have to be smart about it

Similar experience. Would take Xanax XR (extended release) at night. Tiny instant release .25-.5 doses for breakthrough anxiety. One day, I realized I felt really centered and good and stopped taking the XR while reducing the frequency of the instant. What helped me- backpacking, sunshine, prayer, meditation, yoga, bird-watching, and cycling. If I took an instant release in the morning/afternoon, I’d stop, meditate, and do something productive after the pill kicked in (it’s a pleasure to be productive when not experiencing anxiety/panic). No rebound anxiety (I think people mistake anxiety coming back after the pill wears off with rebound anxiety). No real tolerance to speak of. My doctor was an anxiety expert, I don’t really drink alcohol (few times a year and I would abstain from medicine then), and I was honest about my use. It can be extremely helpful.

Couple questions after reading this thread-

I've seen cbd advertised all over the place but am a bit overwhelmed. I browsed tbe link posted earlier for tweedle farms and like some of those products but wouldn't really know where to start. I would probably start off trying one of the CBD mints or gummies, but my main question is do you take one everyday (or multiple a day) or only if you feel a spell coming on? I know it doesn't get you high so not worried about that, just curious what exactly it does and when to take. Also a dosage, looks like the ones I had my eye on range from 10mg to higher up

Hemp head- I started reading up on theanine and I'm very intrigued. Basically same question as above, do you take daily for preventative or when you actually feel anxious? Also do they sell it at the store with all the other vitamins?
