Almost 100% chance it's a bad ground.

Why would a bum alternator make difficult to open the door?

That's a sign of low horn fluid. Lucas is the best.

I take an exhaust sample and have analyzed also, any auto parts store can do it.

It’s the muffler bearing. I also had to change the water in the radiator to bottled.

Then it turned out to be either the battery but most likely the alternator. Maybe a bad ground leaking your charge.

Newer vehicles have power locks. It’s not uncommon.

Damn GM batteries. For 20 years they are still having problems.

Sounds like the alternator.
if the alternator is bad, the battery is dead. therefore, the correct inference is never ever the alternator.

Other than getting hit on the driver's side door, why wouldn't the door open all the way, it's a door on hinges

Tahoes have some kind of double latch or something that it clicks out about an inch and then a second click happens and the door fully opens.

All the circuits in cars require a pretty tight range of voltage to operate correctly, usually from 11-14 volts. When a cell in a lead acid battery goes out, the voltage can drop to 10.5 volts or less and it causes a litany of odd electrical issues like the op is describing. If the alternator is going out or you have a bad ground, it can cause issues. Best course of action is to clean the terminals and bring it to any auto parts store to have your battery/alternator tested for free.

Battery or alternator almost certainly. If the battery is new (and good), it's likely the alternator not charging it.

Those are the first two things I would check. After that, I would check the fuses.

Not always the case. The alternator can be bad but not the battery.

Corrosion around battery connections. Pour cola over it and it clean with wire brush.

Why did you replace the battery to begin with? Loose terminals especially if side posts. But, because the lights dimmed, it might be a parasite electrical issue. Maybe even the door lock on passenger side. AGCO Auto for the win.

Not sure about the door not opening part but had a similar issue with ours. I had issues with the auto lock, lights, just different electrical functions.

There was a known problem about an electrical quick connect under the glove box. It would get hot and start to cause increased resistance issues across the terminals.

Sure enough when we found it was dark from getting hot and once replaced had no issues moving forward. Doubt it’s it but just a thought.
