Dear Friends,

The Corona has us all on edge. Americans are hoarding toilet paper in record numbers.Shelves are bare. Fights are breaking out in Walmart (more than usual) over dwindling or non-existent supplies.

The Facts!

And just for fun, "The Fun Facts"!

So do you have enough? Analytics suggest that you will. A family of 4 will need 8.3 rolls for a 30 day quarantine. Your mileage may vary. The size of a “square” is shrinking. There are double-rolls and triple-rolls and a varying number of plys. The definition of “regular” seems to be changing.

To help with your preparations, this handy calculator has been created to let you determine what's best for you and your family.

TP Utilization Calculator

We will get through this. Together.

I don’t think this factors in the additional liquor shits that most men will have from the extra drinking due to being quarantined with their wife and kids for weeks

In a time of TP shortage, let me offer a little advice. The optimum number of squares for initial wiping is 7. Being a prime number ensures that only 2 seams will line up when you fold by halfs using an initial double-fold. This creates an offset in perforations between layers 2 and 3, which minimizes the risk of perforation failure resulting in inadvertent poofinger.

With the initial double-fold, 7 squares allow sufficient coverage for 3 clean wipes of one's arse. If additional wipes are required, a smaller number of squares is likely more efficient.

Dear Friends,

Your mileage will vary. Age / sex adjustments need to be considered for an individual household. The ratio would go up with a higher than average mix of females in the home.

Diet would be another factor. One can expect less utilization in a vegan family than one that dines at Taco Bell twice/week or more.

Some experts suggest we should should for the "5 Sheets / Per Rule", which might be draconian for some, but could surely extend the availability of critical assets.

That's what I'm thinking.

Either that, or we got a lot of people clipping their stinkpickles off of the stalk and mud bogging it thereafter.

Nothing worse than a slippery arsehole followed by the impending case of the red arse after going 2 hours in the summer heat and not fixing the problem.

Depending on the temperature, my diet, and the consistency, I'll need a minimum double twist, or, preferably, the tried-and-true triple-twister (I'll do a double-flusher if I'm in uncharted waters).

And I have 10 3/4" hands...8.6 sheets my arse...

History teaches us we can survive. In fact, TP was not used in Ancient times. For example, the wealthy might use wool, or a soft - and washable - rag. The Ancient Romans used sponges on sticks and then soaked in water.

The most common thing for poor folk was simply to grab a fistful of grass, leaves or straw to do what needed to be done.

We don't use very much toilet paper. A roll in my bathroom might last a couple of weeks.

I found these survey statistics both interesting and troubling as we move into the apocalyse. Would seem society might need to consider some behavior modification.

It shows that more men "fold" and more women "wad".

40% fold or stack, 40% wad or crumple, 20% wrap it around their hand.
52% (Men) & 38% (Women) are "folders"
38% (Men) & 52% (Women) are "wadders"
6% (Men) & 6% (Women) have no preference
4% (Men) & 3% (Women) don't know

Too many customers focus on how many layers toilet paper has, but it is too often used as a marketing trick, because many consumers tend to assume that more is better, sadly it is not the case.

There are so many different options out there so you must test at least few of them yourself to be sure.

I don't think there's a single symptom of the virus that actually causes people to shite more.

SO WHY ALL THE TP?
