ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WFTV) - In a season when most of us worry about porch pirates stealing packages, a Florida woman came home to a stunning sight.

While she was at work, someone stole her concrete driveway.

“My driveway is gone,” Amanda Brochu said.

And she isn’t exaggerating.

What used to be a concrete slab outside of her house is now a patch of dirt that she didn’t ask for.

Someone took her driveway as she was trying to get ready for Christmas.

Brochu said it all started when she put her home up for sale.

Strange contractors started coming by, measuring her driveway. Her son counted five of them.

Brochu has since contacted law enforcement. Her doorbell camera captured a bulldozer tearing out the concrete and hauling it away.

“Utter shock. I’ve never seen this before. I’ve never had this happen to myself or anyone in our office,” said real estate agent Rocki Sanchez.

What in the world are you going to do with crushed concrete? Sell it to somebody else for their driveway?

Somebody had to see what contractor did this.

Someone buried money under it or they had to move a body.

I’d love to see the cops checking the local pawn shops for 200 sq ft of freshly pawned cement

Needs to call her homeowners. Most will cover driveway repairs for covered perils and theft is a covered peril. But there is no way they would finish their investigation within her 2 week timeframe.

It was intentionally removed though so the homeowners policy may try and deny it. It would definitely be an interesting claim.

There was something in the slab or under it that somebody wanted. There is no other reason for this.

Concrete
quote:

: a hard strong building material made by mixing a cementing material (such as Portland cement) and a mineral aggregate (such as sand and gravel) with sufficient water to cause the cement to set and bind the entire mass.

Cement
quote:

A cement is a binder, a chemical substance used for construction that sets, hardens, and adheres to other materials to bind them together. Cement is seldom used on its own, but rather to bind sand and gravel (aggregate) together. Cement mixed with fine aggregate produces mortar for masonry, or with sand and gravel, produces concrete.

Cement is to concrete as flour is to bread.

So someone doesn’t steal a loaf of flour.

Be smarter.

Could this contractor file a lien on the house for some shady reason? Claim they were hired and have "paperwork"? Could that be done without the homeowners knowledge? Don't gypsies usually half-arse seal a driveway anyway and want payment upfront?

Before I clicked on this thread I was thinking that her driveway was repossessed like the grass in Fun with Dick and Jane.

Sounds like they didn’t finish paying for the driveway and those motherfrickers came and confiscated it
