I like summer classes to be the harder ones because the teachers are more lenient and I get to see the material almost every day.

I switched majors after my first year and in order to catch up I took a summer 3-week mini session of Chemistry I at UNO. I had heard it was very difficult at my normal school (not UNO), since it was referred to as a "weed-out" class for engineers. Every day after my summer internship in NO I would drive to the Jefferson campus for a 3-hour long class.

I don't know if they still offer these but I think it was an easier time than it would have normally been. For my first 2-3 years of college I would take a summer class at UNO while I was home for the summer.

I guess what I said came out wrong. I'm not saying using a base formula then expanding isn't useful. I'm talking about theorems and such and how they were conceived. I think it was heavy in Multi Dimensional Calculus.

eta: I was thinking of proofs not derivatives.

I messed up because my engineering advisors and friends keep telling me hard Engineering classes are easier in the summer because you pay extra for them, so they do pass everyone as long as you are around average.

Sounds like you probably shouldn't be an engineer period if you're looking for the easy pass lol. This is coming from an EE.

Your advisers and friends lied to you. I've taken engineering classes in the summer and they definitely weren't any easier. Stopped doing that and focused on other subjects like math or electives.

You can have that. Rabalais turned me off of any chance of wanting to do any EE.

Isn't ME 3333 the Thermo for PETE majors? I believe it was pretty easy when I was there. I remember talking to a buddy in the program and I was jealous of how much easier it was was than ME 2334 for the ME majors. Granted, he didn't have Dr. D.

I had Dr. D for Fluids and that was a rough class.

eta: I took Calc 3, Physics 2102, Dynamics, and Heat Transfer over the summers and I did well in all of them (A's in the first 3, and a B in the last). I found concentrating on one or two classes at a time to be much better than 3-5.

It’s not an easy pass. Many people are working extremely hard only to get destroyed when it comes to grading because he’s super strict on grading.

Most people are on track to make an F. Does Dr. D curve?

I don’t get this shite how some teachers take pride in everyone failing their hard class. It just means you’re a bad teacher.

The thing I found with higher ME classes is that if you finish out the semester, they'll at least give you a D. Almost every ME teacher curves

IMHO, they are told to get rid of students in certain classes. This reduces the overall class size to people whom are actually dedicated to engineering.

The material in those "weed out classes" isn't hard with a decent teacher, but it can get overwhelming with the amount of steps to solve each problem

I've had three different counselors and plenty of teachers tell me to drop out over the years. Two degrees later, I'm still hard headed, and they can all shove it up their arse.

Sometimes, people need to learn how to power through hard times instead of taking the easy road. The people that drop either didn't really want to do that major, or didn't have the balls to finish it. The deans of colleges know it, so they capitalize to shrink their classes

Ordinarily true & I would 100% agree, but from direct experience in the case of devireddy fluids.. not so much. This was of course only my personal experience.

Not to mention, from a fundamentals perspective, fluids is a massive breadth of information and a cornerstone of a mechanical engineer’s skillset that I don’t see being covered very well in the span of 1 month.

I had him for 2334. We started out with about 100 people. Maybe 30 took the final and 20 or so passed.

Happiest I've ever been to get a D.

Also, I took Dynamics over the summer once. To me it was just as hard as taking an ME class during a normal semester.

I actually got a B with Gonthier and had to drop Devirredy. Gonthier's teaching style clicked with me. If the blackboard program they used at the time was accurate, I had the highest score in the class. So that means no one made an A. Now that program may have not been accurate.

Had Dr. Wong back around 2014 or so. Class wasn’t terrible if you put the work in. Or just go to Jai and have him show you everything if you’re lazy

Crazy thing is a got an A in his class. Had him for circuits 2. But he let us use a cheat note card to write whatever on it. I made sure to write extra small just for that. One day he saw my cheat card after the test and was like "D$%n, you write small!"
